Music choice?

Country music videos are great!, without the sound

ROFL...They aren't that bad. I actually like to listen to Faith Hill and Shania Twain. The songs I like I wouldn't consider them "country", but they are country singers...Now if you are talking about that redneck type music...Yeah, turn it off:p

Not to change the direction here but I also wouldn't mind knowing what instruments any of you might play? I guess just add that to your music tasts when you post.

I play the guitar and piano.

Well let's see...I play the guitar, piano, flute, violin, trumpet, steel drums, drums, banjo, bass guitar, and harp in my dreams(LOL) Naw, I use to screw around with the keyboard when I was younger, but never really wanted to learn to read the music so it never went anywhere. So I just listen to it...:)

I love the 80's metal (GNR, Motley, etc..)...ok stop laughing everyone!! and to add to the list Ozzy, Disturbed, and lately I cant get enough Black Label Society. If Clapton is God, Zakk Wylde is Jesus!

Clapton maybe but he bowed down in the presence of the true master Mr. Hendrix!
two greats that share the top tier in my book. We're just now starting to catch up to Jimi. The man was waaaayyy too far ahead of his time. Clapton is the oposite end of the spectrum...Slowhand is the best clean guitarist I have ever heard. I played for many years before life got in the way and Clapton always amazed me with the slow, clean, pure sound...the man is amazing.

Someone mentioned GnR. Has anyone listened to Slash play jazz guitar? Tha man can play some amazing guitar (even if he looks like cousin It).

I agree 100%

Wow, what a stream! Interesting stuff there--- Lesseeeee--- I'm definately a bit older (later 50's) so my tastes are a bit softer. Classical music, opera, jazz, world music of various types, folk, bluegrass (a type of jazz to many), big band, 50's to mid 60's softer rock, stuff like that. Mellow, to keep my mood from getting out of hand. What I can't stand is most music that is played on the radio. FM is a wasteland except one classical station around here, and most country just sounds like half a--ed rock. (half-fast rock???)
Instruments? I sing in a choir, and (trying to learn to) play the bagpipes! Wow, now ya'll think I'm some kind of weirdo----

My favorites are:

-Primus -Gov. Mule
-Radiohead -Neil Young
-Pearl Jam -Pink Floyd
-The Who -Perfect Circle
-The Ramones -Black Sabbath
-Guster -CCR
-AFI ( before "sing the sorrow")
-Nine Inch Nails
-Ministry
-Tool
-Nirvana

This I have to see/hear. I can't imagine Slash playing Wes Montgomery or Joe Pass's work. Hell, I couldn't even see Slash hang with Charlie Hunter or Pat Metheny. Just seems out of character...

Got any idea where I can find this stuff?

Thanks
Scott T.

Boy 70's would include Sabbath, Zep, BOC, Who, Hendrix, Nazareth, Queen, Early Sweet, Priest, CSNY, Bowie, Cream, Ted Nugent, some Kiss, Floyd of course, Mountain, Foreigner, Boston, Foghat, AC/DC the list goes on as for the 80 guess hair bands there are too many to list sliding to Motorhead, Ozzy, Testament and the like Metalica, Anthrax, Maiden, Megadeath, Tool, NIN, Korn, Pumpkins, Janes Addiction, Porno for pyros, Alice in Chains, Machine Head, A Perfect Murder, Atrophy, Helmet, Marylin Manson, Perfect Circle, Def tones, Static X, Union Underground, just too many to list and the Seattle boys and pre grunge - Melvins, Helecopter as for now Some Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, Breaking Ben, Chimaira, System, Corrosion of Conformity, Disturbed, Dope, Drowning pool, Godsmack, Flyleaf, Shadows fall. And I am Sure I am missing a bunch - Pretty much heavy for me.

Favorite guitar - Yngwie Malmsteen
NO COUNTRY

For those looking for Slash playing Jazz...

Tough to find, but here are a couple of songs he played on:

Obsession Confession (Instumental) - Slash And Jed Leiber
Obsession - Slash with Marta Sanchez
Both from Curdled: Music From The Miramax Motion Picture

I don't think these are the pieces I have heard on the local jazz station, but I am pretty sure that is him on guitar.
