I just installed my 1st skimmer into my 55 gal. tank...The skimmer is a CPR Bak-Pak Dual pak...I have it running for about a day..But i stopped it due to the collection cups..They have filled up with clear water..In about 4 hours I have about 5 gals of water that I have dumped out of the collections cups..My salinity has gone down from 1.024 to 1.022..I was told that adding new salt sometimes makes it foam more..I havent added and chemicals to the tank in a few days..I heard this is normal..Or is it?

Raise your cups up and let it run. Did you clean it out real good before using? They take a day or two to breaki n. You shouldnt be pumping that much though. If I remember right mine put out about two cups a day for few days. After it slows down you can start adjusting the cups to collect the nasties. The one problem I have had for years is the tube in the cup has to stay clean because its to small.

Well I have the collection cups all the way up..I can fill both cups in about 5 mins...Yes i did clean it out..Befor using..

I'm not personally familiar with that skimmer. Can you dial down the pump flow to the skimmer? or the airflow that generates the bubbles? You may want to play with these two things to dial it in to the point where it isn't bubbling over so much?

No the skimmer didnt come with any air control..Was told it has to run 100% to function right.

Does it have an air intake hose with a mushroom muffler? You can plug it off or submerge it for a few days. It sound to me that the acrylic still has polish on it.

If it has an air hose, at least pinch it off so that the foam doesn't overflow so bad. Then gradually open it up to full open (over a number of days) until it is working 100%. Is that possible?

Hi,

a lot of people says you need to remove the blue thing that goes with it... because it becomes nitrate collector...

raise the cup in such a way that the bottom of the cup is at least 1/4 inch above the water level within the skimmer...
