So finally here are some photos of my 75gal tank. It is still recovering from my phosphate problem but looking better everyday.

I do have a question about the water level in your sump. Will it overflow in a power outage?

No it wont, its been tested, my tank will only let an extra 3gals drain down the overflow when the power goes out, and the pump has a back flow valve in it. there is enough room in the sump to take in an extra 5gals, the tank is 20gals total

I see you use bio balls, I pulled all of mine out, and there are mixed reviews about using them, do you see a benefit from them?

Also what was your phosphate issue? I'm fighting high phosphates and nitrates...

I have always use bio balls, when i get another 25lbs of LR i will prob remove them. My phosphate problem was caused by a fish killing another fish and a star fish, i just use a phosphate remover pad, it too about 2 weeks but now my phosphates are .03ppm, they were 5ppm

just a heads up on that one way check valve you are using on the return pump. check it often. I use them and they last usually 1 year before they fail. i have replaced mine every winter as a precaution. I had one fail a couple of years ago and it was so slow that it took only an hour or so of no power to cause a huge problem. So i just replace them yearly. they are pretty cheap so its not an issue with replacing. just thought u might want to know.

I think mine is starting to fail already, when i had the pump off the other day it had some water slowly coming back through

thats the sign. replace it. i always keep an extra on hand. also might want to put a couple of unions in between that valve so it can be changed much easier and quicker
