Well, a few months ago a fantastic meeting with Frank Marini really inspired me. Since then I have been having a great time with my Bangaii's. This is my first try at pictures, so I hope it works!

My son swore he saw the little fins and tails in dad's mouth, and the fry must be ready to go... he was a little overanxious and mistaken, this is what we found:

By the next morning our little bangaii's were out and about, not swimming much because they were still loaded down with their egg sac:

Here is a pic of some of the bigger brothers and sisters that are about 5 weeks old. This was the first batch, there were 22 spat out (which is truly an incredible sight) and still all 22 are growing and thriving :D They are about 3/4'' long now and they love their pseudo urchin.

Those are the highlights for now so I'll cross my fingers and hope this works... Thanks Luke and Ilham for the technical help! :)

Very cool Susie!!! Great job! Banggais are really cool to watch. When they finally go to that CITIES list of fish...they will be in shorter supply.

Best,
Ilham

Beautiful!! Thanks for sharing,

Ilham, what do you mean about "CITIES list of fish?"

Hey Susie - i too was inspired by Frank Marini's talk - he was a good speaker wasn't he. Good for you! I love your fake urchin replica - so cool!

Very cool, I love seeing animals propogated in captivity.

Are you planning on selling any of the older ones? I might be interested in 2-3.

Mat

Wow Susie, you and Ilham will be able to pair up and do talks all over the country soon!!! I remember seeing baby cardinals a couple years ago and they were so cute!

:):):)

Great job Susie!!!! I can wait to see them!! :D :D YAY!!

Ilham is talking about the fact that the Bangi Cardinal will soon be on the CITIES list of fish that cannot be exported or captured. when this happens, the price of these fish will sky rocket!

Day 2

Thanks for all the kind words! They are all doing well today after being so rudely forced out before they were ready :oops::eek:

Mat, I will have to trade or sell them at some point. I just don't have the room to keep them forever considering as they mature they will not allow more than 1 pair to a tank.

Here's an updated picture from this evening that I got in focus by some miracle!

Once the Bangi Cardinal make it on the list, they will not be allowed to be taken from the Bangi Islands legaly.... and since almost all of the bangi cardinal come from the Bangi Islands, they will not be as available in the stores for the hobby.... These fish are such a great species, and if we want to preserve them, tank raising them is the way to go!

Great Job Susie!!

Thanks for opening the picture up Randy! Some day I hope to figure that stuff out. Also, thanks for explaining the CITIES list. I was a little unsure of the exact details on that. You were lucky to spend that whole day with Frank Marini, he was a fountain of information!

Susie :)

Well let me know when you get to that point, I have some nice SPS and a few softies that I could trade.
