Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

Well I did almost have one of those major "Ahh Crap" moments.
After the tank was full and running for a half hour or so, everything seem stable, I made a cheeseburger run.
Was gone maybe 25 minutes. Sat down and ate my lunch.
Went over to the tank to check again for leaks and saw a little water on the floor directly underneath the manifold end cap.
So I reached down to see if I could fell water dripping from it and I even gave it a little pull.
I did this while the Reeflo Snapper/Dart pump is running.
The cap started to move a hair, then all of a sudden it tried to come off completely.
I was lucky that I was able to push it back on and run around to the other end and shut off the pump.
If it would have come off, it would have been like a charged firehose blowing water out.

Now I have to figure out to quiet down the drains.
They are bubbling like a boiling pot of water.

That's awesome Carlos.
Did you use the trap?
Yep, it helps having the right tools he he he, I will try to bring in the next couple of weeks, will let you know., well of course if you need sooner, let me know too. Was looking at your plumbing work, you have some excelent skills, nice to know if I need any help with plumbing my 75 frag tank, keep the pictures coming

hey Marty. did you drill a small hole in the top caps of the stand pipes. if you didn't. drill a tiny hole in the cap. it will let it breath. good job on all the work you have been doing. you are so lucky that the end cap didn't pop off while you were not there. it would have flooded your house.

Yeah, I did drill the hole.
But I'm having a hard time dialing in the drain flow.
It works best with one of the durso's completely off and one on.

If that endcap would have popped off when I was gone, there would have been a lot of water everywhere. lol

Well, have saltwater and rock in and a couple of the leathers that survived the stock tank crash yesterday.
Will have to get busy and arrange the rock today and move the fish.
I have 3 small hippo tangs that have been in quarantine for about 6 weeks.

I also need to program the Radions, especially the new one I got as a replacement.
One of the lights started having a problem so EcoTech replaced it.

Yes.
I did a 24 hour leak/flow test with freshwater.
I usually try and go longer and try different things, but I'm a little pressed for time.

Was wondering, as I'm planning on doing the same. Wasn't quite sure :)

The longer the freshwater test you do gives you time to tweak the system.
You can decide if things are good or if you need to do changes. And when you do plan on a longer test, you aren't inclined to accept things that aren't quite right and you aren't in a rush to make hasty changes.
For instance, my first impression of my closed loop pump is that I'm not happy with the hum of the motor and if I had more time I would have replaced it with a Fluval SP6.
