These will be in progress pics. This is a Oceanic 175 Bow Front and Oceanic stand. The lighting is Outer Orbit. The sump is a All Glass Type 4 with a Aqua Medic Turbo Floater Skimmer (Awesome Skimmer BTW) and Red Sea Wave Maker. The lights are on a Coral Sea Timer. I have three Danner pumps. One 2400 (A noisey bastard) and 2 1800. I also took pics of what I did for the returns. I was scared to death to drill the glass. Rock is on the way and some grunge from G.A.R.F. Any hoot I am so pleased to be able to share this with you.

very nice!
but those wire ties for hose clamps scare me:eek:
those are a disaster waiting to happen....

Nice setup Jerry! :D
Just incase you’re not aware of this already... If for any reason you start to see micro bubbles in your tank, those Loc-Line sections above the water could be your #1 culprit. :)

Do you know why it does that? I do have a micro bubble problem.

Looks good. I'm with Matt, I'd get rid of those plastic tie straps. Get some of the metal screw-down clamps (no, don't put them under water).

Well I got my rock yesterday from Marco Rocks (Shamless Plug) and I must say I am very happy with what I got. I weighed the live verses his and I am so glad I went his way. My skimmer is working over time this morning. I should have read a little more on his site (I'm such a rookie) about seasoning the rock. I figured dry rock would be just that and I would not have to cure it. I got a little to excited when I opened the boxes. I rinsed them really good and threw them right into the tank. I see lots of water changes in the next few weeks now because of that.

It is going o be a reef monster. I wanted to make this thing abundant with life so the biggest fish I'll keep in there will be my Pasor Angel. He's not really aggressive and plus he is the best looking one I have ever seen. Lots of wrasses, blenny's and gobies. 2 true percula clowns and tons of corals and a few clams. I got only scarlet and haloween hermit crabs because they are not as aggresive as those brown store ones and I'm tired of those guys killing all my snails (I have about fifty empty shells in the bottom of the corner tank).

I'm also going to experiment with dwarf angels. I really dig those guys so I am going to buy 4 (coral beauty, flame, bi-color and lemon peel) at one time and put them in together and let mother nature take her course.

The only thing that sucks is the time frame to get these salt water systems going after being a freshwater guy. Don't worry I'm being patient.

Due to their ball and socket design and adjustability, Loc-Line isn’t completely leak proof. Since there’s usually minimal backpressure in most applications, the velocity of water flowing through them tends to pull air in rather than leak water out through an unsealed connection that isn’t submerged.

Thanks Rob. I wanted to drill the back to install the returns but was scared I would crack it. It says right on the label. "Tempered glass do not drill". I couldn't even get a local shop toi touch it.

BTW that must be a myth about the pound to pound and three guarter per gallon. I have about 130 pounds in there and can't really fit very much more without losing swim room.

Naw, I think your rockwork looks pretty good.
Is it away from the back wall so you can reach behind there for some reason?
Sorry to brow beat you a little, but... I think your angelfish stocking idea sounds a little reckless. Maybe you oughta start a new thread over on Steve Skinner’s section about their compatibility and see what kind of recommendations you come up with. At least it might save you from wasting your money on a wrong decision... Just my opinion. :)

Rob your are now promoted to Hopa Haole!! Yea I changed my mind yet again. I'm gonna load it with small reef dwelling fishes. I like the big fishes when they are not acting like a bunch of bullies but unfortunately thats always. I have been wanting a pigmy angel and the local store got one in yesterday. After I acclimated it everything in the tank started picking and biting at it. Man that made me mad!! It would be like me beating up a 4 year old kid. Fortunatly I have my quarantee tank and got him in there. I have never seen anything like it. I mean everything went after this poor little fish. It seems ok today but that right there made me change my mind. When the 175 is ready for fish he'll be the first one in if he makes it.

Tank looks great. On a side note, passer angels will attack and often kill dwarf angels. They are VERY aggressive, especially to other angels.

that's some really nice looking rock you've got there.
good luck with the development of your reef; and please keep us posted.
living vicariously through other's is sometimes the only thing that keeps the
rest of us from running out and starting up new systems all the time. lol.
