Very cool. that favia is growing nicely. thats a great way to get frags from it.

cool. i know one of the blue ones do. electric maybe? i don't remember. he is a beautiful fish.

Well I spoke to soon. I'm hating this fish!! UGH!! It has totally torn up my sand bed! Causing a cyano outbreak :( my sand bed has sat undisturbed for almost 3yrs. I'll let you all guess what this has done to my tank.
Been doing 1x 25% WC weekly. Trying to siphon/vacuum off the rock. Constantly blowing off my corals that are on the SB, couple of which he winds up burying completely. I would try an catch him but...(drum role please) I'm buying a 45g cube!!! Yahooo me!! Upgrade time!!
Then the Neon Damsel will find a new home :)

First frag of Favia :)

Sorry to hear about the cyano outbreak. I managed to fight mine off by scrubbing the rocks, cleaning the filters, major water change, and by running chemi pure elite. Work had and be patient and you'll be able to beat the battle. Good luck

Well Nana's nano is no more. She's empty. Got a hefty $281.00 in store credit for the rock and all that was living on it-yahoo me! To bad they get crap for coral & fish. But I have other animals that will benefit :)
This was an awesome tank! Learned so much from the three years running. A ton of Do's Don'ts. She will be missed....a little :)

That was a awesome tank. I really liked all your zoanthids and mushrooms. :)
Sounds like you did pretty good with your lfs.

One woman's junk is another man's treasure-lol. I'll wait a couple months before I start looking for fish or corals.

I added my MP10 to the 40. I just wish I could figure the proper flow. So now I have the MP10, WP10 and the return. Think I have enough flow for this tank? Seriously.

Oh and for some reason the flow through my filter sock is over flowing the sock. Any idea why this is happening?

Sock needs to changed/cleaned?

Did you just get the Vortech?

The MP 10 should be 1500gph max and the WP10 is 1000gph max and 350 to 400 for the return.
Running both circulation pumps at 3/4 capacity is approx. 2100gph in a 40 gallon tank is 52x turn over.
Seems like a lot. Does the sand stay in place?

I took the sock off and am now soaking it in bleach/water.

No the Vortech is 2yrs old. Had it on my 26.

The sand isn't being disturbed at all. Neither pump is at max. Facing each other. Both at mid level. Vortech is in nutrient export mode and the WP10 hell if I know because I lost the manual-lol. I'm getting a lil wave action but not constant and good surface agitation.

Do I have to use a sock? Isn't there anything else I could use? I liked it because it tamed the bubbles big time, and made it a lot quieter.

I don't like using socks because they clog.
I made a little bubble box in the corner of my sump to contain the big bubbles from the overflow pipes.
Have any kind of container you could put under the overflow pipes that is just a couple inches taller than the water level?

If the sock clogs up fast, try taking some of the material out of the inside of the sock. See if you can peel part of it away on the inside without tearing a hole in it.
Like making the material thinner.

Make sense?

I'm not a fan of them either but it sure keep the bubbles in check. I could try using my DIY pre-skimmer box. First I'll have to shorten the tubing. It almost touches the bottom of the sump. Was gonna do it before I got it running but never got around to it More tweaking to do :)

By the way-you always make sense :)
