reader beware I am not trying to start a debate just laying out a few facts.
please I do not want this to become a circus!!

ok so we are trying to get a nascar track here in washington state. we need every RF member to help us support our own track!!!!

check the link below and fill out the form to help us show there is a ton of interest!!!

5,200 fans went to a event that was not advertised met drivers like kasey kayne, greg biffle, micheal and darrel waltrip!!!!!

let me inform you of some info about nascar for those who do not know.

take the next race in atlanta. tickets for a 3 days of events cost around $200 or more. now you need hotels, food, travel, site seeing. now you take that into concederation and times it by 80,000 fans (Thats how much butt kissing they are doing) average attendance is 125,000 fans at other races.

well if my math is right thats 16 million dumped into the economy + hotels, air travel, food, site seeing, cars, ferry, and misc. well I think you get the point.

mariners ticket sales for average 30,000 for 80 games in a season at $25 a peice is at 60 million.

3 days verses 8 miserable months??

nascar might even do 2 races a year here

not to mention the local racers, craftsman truck series, and more!!!

I look at it this way if they are going to bend over backwards for the sonics (let them move to bellevue who cares) 200 mill for key arena. the owner if talledega superspeedway is the one who is financing this track he has asked for 120 mill from the state (yes our taxes sorry you are going to pay for one thing or the other anyway!!!!)(expensive tunnel instead of a cheap replacement not to mention the 100 or so million they have already wasted in planning crap yup thats your money gone out the window too)

They are talking about enviroment risk.. well thats the funniest thing I have heard. a farm gets a make over. is that bad?? what about the rate of develoment in redmond issaquah they are half way to snoqualmie I see more damage done there than in a farm getting a make over!!

so I feel like seattle did a real good thing by letting the cruise lines in here.
passager list in 2004 450,000
passager list in 2005 700,000
wow thats a big jump. looks like the economy has done well by cruises alone.

why not a nascar track??

feel free to post any opinions/questions

I'm not from WA., but I think I would help support your local economy at least 1 time per year. Realistically speaking, you would only get 1 race per year to start with, because you would have to bounce a race from a long established track just to get the 1 race. Vegas is already talking about adding another race, you would be behind them in the pecking order, believe me.
The best bet is to add the track, and get a Truck Series race to go there, that is how Vegas got a Cup race.

I have to agree with Charlie on this, these guys are racing so many tracks these days, I wish they would split them up into real East & West leagues but somehow the west cup doesn't seems to be the same. I have to wish for a track closer to home also:D
Really NASCAR is getting so huge I don't see how they can continue without a Division split, Man what a super bowl huh?
GOOOOOOOO JR!
(RIG%^$%$*&Last RACE HE SCR#%^ UP)
Oh Sorry!

Scooter, you don't want to know the sentence that was uttered when I saw that he got caught speeding on pit road.:D :D :D :D

There is so much pressure on these drivers now, I don't see how they could realistically add another race without subtracting one from another track, and I don't really want to see that happen. Look how they felt when they took the Labor Day race from Darlington, (am I right there?). That in my eyes was a tragedy. Just think if they stole a race from Talladega..................................

well I see you guys a far away from here. well good news is they dont care where you are from just how many names that they can show the lawmakers up here.

They people doing it also own california, chicagoland, darlington, daytona, homestead miami, kansas, michagan, martinsville, phoenix, richmond, talladega, and watkins glen. so with that many tracks its easy to swing one to their new venture. IMO

well from a fan point that would tottaly suck:eek:
from a driver standpoint they would absolutely love it if they only had to goto talladega once a year. they hate to wreck their cars, flip over and over again, and one little mess up in the front of the pack cause's a 30 car wreck which we saw a couple years ago!!

You got that right, but that came from the 48 car bump drafting in turn 1, if I am not mistaken. They took steps to curb the bump draft at the "plate tracks" this year at Daytona, and everybody seemed to agree that it was a good idea.;) ;)
Face it, for the Nextel Cup to come to Washington, someone is going to lose something. As stated before, I would love to see it happen. I know for a fact that it would save me about a $1000 if they did. Vegas is great, it's those darn machines there that suck!!!!!:D :D :D :D :D
I did hear that they might be thinking about taking a race from Charlotte, because they do have the 2 weekend deal in May anyways. All those tracks are owned by the same people anyways, so they aren't gonna lose anything!!!

I disagree big time, this track brings in more cash & fills the 200K seats every time, the track is getting repaved after the next race there, & the high banking makes this track so unreal, the drivers know if they loose one race there it will hurt lots of people big time. I think quite a few drivers really like this track, some can't get a hold of it & blame wrecks but they just drive different on these tracks, but look at the build-up of these races as compared to some of the boring races they have like Kansas lol :p
NASCAR needs two divisions it will happen.;)

Sorry, I didn't see your post #5.
Let's lose the road course races. The only person that would be PO'd would be Robbie Gordon.:D :D :D
......lol:D

yes they would lose a ton of money. Im not saying take a race from there. that would just blow big time. drivers on the other hand dislike that track.(at least how it is set up now)

They don't dislike the track, they dislike the restrictor plates.
If Nascar did something about the restrictor plates, I don't think you would hear much complaining at all!!

I agree with Charlie again on that.
Vegas is getting banks for next year, jr will do better there lol

true but then they would be going 220 mph and thats alittle scary. when you have bump drafting.

According to what I heard down there, the max speed would be like Atlanta or Michigan.
If they would stop making all these "cookie cutter" tracks, and put some thought into what the fans want to see, they would be better off. They redid homestead and they are gonna redo Vegas because the 1.5 mile downforce tracks are BORING without banking.

They should test it. take 10 cars with no res. plates and see how they do drafting and top speeds. 2.5 miles is a long track to get some speed built up.

talking about talledaga I thought. hold up need to reread......

ok you talking vegas yes 1.5 miles 20 deg banking is what they are going to do to it. should make the cornering speed about 160-170 instead of the 145 it is now. and pushing 200 down the straights.

scooter was talking about talladega.

:D I love this racing stuff, We should have a weekly thread::rolleyes:

Hey, you are the guy with all the pull here.
I don't think we need a weekly thread, we just did that anyways.
I hope diablo doesn't mind this, he started the thread about supporting the proposed track in WA. state, and it just went from there. I think it is a great thread!!!!!!!! Problem is there are only 3 people involved:(
