i bought one little piece of fiji live rock that had some green grass looking stuff growing on it.i thought it would look cool and maybe be good food for the fish too.well i gues my nasso tang ate too much.i noticed his belly was buldging.then i notice grass looking stuff sticking out of his butt.he wouldnt eat .he always hid.hes usally the 1st one to the top to eat.today i caught him and pulled the grass out of his back side.the hole is real big.it doesnt look good.hes on the bottom trying to get better i hope.needless to say i took the rock out and pulled off the grass.

Sorry to hear of the problems.

It is unusual for a fish to eat something that may do it some harm. On the other hand, Tangs are not the sharpest fish in the sea. They are grazers and expect/hope to continuously feed. They suffer more times then we imagine, of internal blockages and intestinal disorders.

Make the fish as comfortable as possible with as little disturbance as possible. Lower the specific gravity to about 1.016 over the next 24 hours to make it easier for the fish to conserve energy. When it comes time to raise the specific gravity, do that about .002 units per day until it is back to normal.

Please keep us informed.
