I have just got through filling my 90gl tank with RO/DI, 60lbs aragonite sand and 20lbs live sand. I have 100lbs of Fiji live rock coming tomorrow and still need my light and skimmer. The light I was going to get is the Nova Extreme T5 ho 4x54. The guy at my lfs said that would be ok for some clams if I elevate them some? Now for the skimmer, I have no idea what to get as I never had one before? I need a hang on one and my tank to wall clearance is 6".

A bump for an AquaC Remora **Pro version** ("old reliable" I like to call it.)

No priming, no ventri-tubes--just plug it in and watch it GO!

(Used units can sometimes be found on eBay for $200 or less...)

Hello,

I both 3 skimmer options I am willing to sell you:

Berlin HO
Pizm skimmer
CPS Bakpak

Let me know if you are intersted in anyone of them.

i know alot of people like the remora, but i personally feel they are sluggish, mediocre, and unable to give you really nice water quality(compared to other skimmers).
great for a SMALL tank full of mushrooms and zoanthids, but dont bother trying to keep any sps with that thing....especially not in a 90g.

look at it this way, i sell skimmers for a living, and i'd rather see you spend money on a skimmer i've never even seen in operation than waste money on a remora or remora pro.

but if your a glutten for doing lots of water changes, and brown sps, then give one a try, just dont ever use the pumps they suggest to run on ANY aqua c skimmer.
so if you do buy a remora pro, then run it with a mag 5 or even 7, not a mag 3.
just my 2 cents :)

personally i've liked the coralife super skimmers, though they're a bit noisy and you have to clean out the venturi intake everyonce and a while to keep it working well

If you're planning on using T5's then I would not get the Nove fixture, It doesn't have individual reflectors which is where most of the light comes from.

i'd go with the tek lighting, i got it used, well made... my 48" 4 bulb got ran over by a car and still works perfect, the reflectors are good too which are individuals some of the best, they're quite too cause they use convection or something like that to release heat rather than fans

I've used both the Aqua C and the Coralife skimmers..I would reccomend the Remora Pro w/ Mag 7 for a 90. The Coralifes are hard to adjust, like to overflow and kind of bulky.
I also have the SunTek T5's and LOVE them! If you are going to want to keep clams I'd go with the Suntek 6 bulb on a 90. The Current fixtures have only one large reflector, I wouldn't try to keep clams under this light
