well I think im going to just go with a cpr back pack on my 45 they are rated for 60 gal tanks....and Im not planning on adding much more livestock then what I already have in my 20 gal. I figure if I need more I can just buy another cpr or get a better skimmer...let me know if Im an idiot or not thanks.

If you are looking for a skimmer on a lower budget take a look at the coralife hang-on.I test about a dozen skimmers last year for an online company and all in all they weren't bad for the price. They are sensitive to adj. but once you get them there you don't have to mess with them much. I would try to get the largest one I could ,like many skimmers the gallons are over rated.

I know a lot of folks here don't care for them, but if you're seriously considering the cpr bakpack, then at least think about the AquaC Remora Pro with a Mag3 pump. Definitely more capacity than you need, but the one I have on my 46g has done the job for me with hardly any maintenance or setup hassles.

I almost forgot about the aquaC Remora Pro I think that is also a good choice and you can often find used ones from fellow reefer's at a low price.

The remora is the worst hot skimmer available due quality control. 90-95% don't skim at all or fill up the collection cup with clear water. The other 5-10% are decent at best. The cpr is fine if you get the upgraded nw pump with it. Or mod the pump. The coralife SS are ok. The will work but you will get a flood every now and then for no reason.
