I went to the lfs today, to buy mealworms for the geckos, and I ended up with a green clown goby. he seems to have acclimated well, but he's nowhere to be seen. the only time I've seen him today is when I just feed him. he darted out from inbetween the rocks. does anybody else have one of these, and do the hide "all" the time?

Sounds good Tony! I've never had a goby so i couldn't say, but are they hardy? I know your tank is sort of newly setup and may not be totally cycled yet and if the fish is a sensative fish, then any levels of ammonia or nitrite in your tank may effect him. Have you tested your ammonia and nitrites lately? I'd hate to see you lose a fish because of them still being high...Just a thought. Like I said, not sure if they are hardy so I couldn't say for sure how much of a concern it would be:)

It is probably fine if it is eating. Any fish will hide for a while when introduced to a new tank. Just be sure your levels are right as Krish suggested.

i got yesterday 0 nitrites, and .20-25 ammonia. the color change thing is kinda hard to tell, but it def. wasn't over .25. 4 hours after I put him in there, he was darting out to eat the shrimp, so I assume he's doing well.

Well, if you are reading ammonia, then your tank has a ways to go to cycle. You won't start registering nitrite until you've built up enough bacteria to convert the ammonia into the nitrite. Ammonia is very toxic to fish and thus the reason people don't add any fish until all traces of it are gone. Nitrite isn't as toxic, but nonetheless still toxic. I usually don't add even the hardiest of fish until ammonia has atleast dropped off. Hopefully he will be fine.:)

If you still have ammonia you shouldn't be adding fish.
Didn't you just start this tank a couple weeks ago?

Def not. Find him a temp home or it will not make it long with NH3 in the water.
