Yes you need to pump up the salinity. I've used this water to fill my tank and use it once in a while for water changes. I haven't found anything negative with using it. It is one heck of a bargain. It will store for quite a while. I've stored it up to 2 months without any ill affects. I'm not really comfortable storing it that long, but it can be done.
