Hey Todd. I'm thinking of purchasing a all in one light fixture for this build. I'm looking at Current USA 2x250w mh with 4 actinic-4x39w and Odyssea 1x250w mh with 4 actinic-4x39w. Mixed reef being considered. Would the Current Fixture be overkill, running the mh shorter period, vs Odyssea, running mh longer, achieving the same outcome. any thoughts on these fixtures

Hey Tony, unfortunately not a fan of MH's been 20+ years since I had one. They are a good source of light/par but two things have kept me away #1 HEAT issues requiring a chiller and #2 since I like the look of canopies on my systems, needing to have a 12-18" tall canopy. Just do not personally care for this look.

I have ran VHO lighting exclusively since getting rid of last MH many years ago but, for my new system I am totally sold on LED's and IMHO will make MH obsolete in the very near future. Most of Europe has already halted all incandescent bulb manufacturing and nearly every major brand of aquarium lighting is now promoting thier new LED's. Anyways personally I'd look into LED's before spending to much on a MH fixture. If you do end up deciding on MH try to find one that uses supplemental T5 lamps instead of PC's.
