? on setting up my 40 B

The wife and I are going to set up a 40 breeder in a few weeks. it is going to replace our 34g solana. We picked because we like the foot print. We need a stand and sump. I dont know if I want to go to with a open top or a canopy. We are going to do a corner overflow and the return will come out of the overflow. I am thinking about putting in a rock wall. Do the people that have them like them? I dont know what kind of return pump Im going to use. I want to make the tank as quite as I can. I would love feed back even if its bad?

On my tank I did a corner overflow. And a herbie pipe. It's super quiet. If u look up help with 40b thred ull find it. When I get home. Il post more info for help.

40B's are great. You can pretty much have your way with them, most are not tempered so drilling is simple. The foot print is perfect and with a properly designed stand you can use a second one as a sump. I build the stands for my buddies shop in CA and the double 40b is by far the most popular.
For a reef you get a decent amount of floor space and a workable height. With a 40b sump its huge and roomy compared to the typical 20g that most use.

I never thought about using a 40b for the sump to. I have to re think what I want to do because I like the idea of the double 40b

As Don said, using a double 40, with one as a sump/fuge, ROCKS!! I'd have built a sump/fuge, for my 200, out of a 40, had I not found a great deal on a pre-built sump/fuge, with the same footprint as a 40 breeder.

The 36"X18" footprint can't be beat. The ability to drill these tanks really makes customizing them much easier.

I thank im going to go pick another 40b this weekend at petco, there getting a shipment in this weekend and said they will have a few 40b in the shipment. 49$ bucks for a tank that rocks not a bad deal.

I have never had a problem with the herbie that i use. I guess the drain could clog but the only way i see that happening would be with a nem sticking to the siphon. I dont use a over flow box though..
