Just picked up a 64oz bottle of Kent Tech M at Red C Aquarium to start a battle on the bryopsis that has taken over my tank.

Wish me luck!

Dave,

oh man...feel for ya...bryopsis is such a PITA to get rid of...but Kent Tech M is the weapon of choice..just make sure you increase the Mg level to at least 1700 and hold there for 2-4 wks.

I've had to do that. Once on my 240 gallon tank. I could not believe how much Tech M, I needed to get the mag up as high as I needed it to be.
Hope 64oz. is enough.

Good luck

Luckily Rob always has it in stock. So, if I run short it's a "short" trip down there to pick up some more.

Bryopsis is IMO the easiest nuciance algea to to get rid of thanks to Tech-M. Just make sure to bring your levels up and back down slowly or you will end up bleaching corals.

I thought that you were to raise the Mag fast. Within a day. Keep at 1750 for 4 weeks. Then lower it slowly to aprox 1250.

From everything I have read on the subject, that would be dangerous.

When I did it, I raised the mag about 150-200ppm per day.

Day #3...I am probably imagining it, but the tips are starting to look slightly white. There might be hope.

I wouldnt raise it to quickly Dave. Remember Mag has a direct effect on your calcium and alk, which in turn has a direct effect on your corals. If you are fish only then its not really an issue although I would suggest watching your PH.

hope it helps

Thanks Mike,
I will raise it over a three day period.

Rainy..
How long did you take to raise yours??

They wont let me buy it in 5 gallon buckets but they should(shoot should be 55 gal barrel), gallons are here sometimes but always have half gallons around.

I feel its very inportant to check calcium levels along with your high dkh readings as the mag changes your chemistry.

I have had my mag at 2000pm and my dkh was at 14 and cal was on a a free fall , so keep an eye on everything as your adding this in for the next month.

Low mag salts to cost you more than you think your saving.
Remember team up to get a great salt at a savings of $.13 per galllon better thank I.O
