We have two pepps in our tank which tend to hang out together in a small cave area. I noticed one of them today which looked as though her belly was FULL of clear/white eggs. After luring her out with some food, I attempted to take some pictures but face it... Kodak sucks..

So I'm pretty sure I'm right.. that these are eggs.. and with as full as it seems, I'd think they were just about "done". Anyone else ever experience this?

I'm assuming that the fish/shimp will do a fine job of making a snack out of any babies. Anyone every have luck of actually raising these things??

My peps go through that too and they are eggs. I actually saw one of mine lay hers one night while peeking at the tank. Pretty cool they just shoot from one side of the tank to the other to strip the eggs off their body and spread them. Tank was filled with tiny things - I guess it's pretty hard to handle them at that point because they are so fragile - most breeders siphon them up and then stick them in a special tank to raise them. Google can tell you the full story.

Those are eggs. I have the same thing going on right now. Actually tonight I just set up the larvae collector to try to catch the little guys when they hatch and try to raise them to adulthood.

After your female lays her eggs she will molt, That is when the male takes advantage of her soft shell and will mate with her. With in two days off laying her eggs mine was carrying eggs again. Then depending on temperature she will release the eggs in 10-14 days. Then start the process all over again.

There is a book by April Kirkendoll (How to raise & train your peppermint shrimp) That will teach you everything you need to know.

Lysmata shrimp are nearly impossible to raise since they are planktonic once they hatch out, most if not all will probably get killed by filter feeders or circulation pumps. My skunk cleaners get eggs all the time, if you have two shrimp in the same tank you will get eggs hehe. Its basically free coral food :(

Yes, I went home during lunch and noticed she was without eggs and I really didn't see anything in the tank. Oh well. I think we forgot to feed our fish breakfast so they were probably thankful for a snack.

And I'm not saying that pigs don't/can't fly.. I just have yet to see one. Although I have flown in an airplane a few times. :p I kidddd!

Yeah awhile back i had a dream of raising fire shrimp but after reading about how difficult to near impossible i gave up. If i had the space i still wouldn't mind giving it a try certainly sounds like a major challenge.
