Placement of Mag 3 in Water

I have Remora with a Mag3. Should the Mag 3 be placed just underneath the water surface or should it run all the way to the bottom of the tank? The reason I ask is because the Mag 3 seems pretty heavy for the plastic arm of the Remora, I'm almost afraid it will snap the arm off. I thought it was supposed to be just below the water surface but now I'm starting to second guess myself.

Also what specifically do I adjust to get the different types of skimmit (wet etc.) Thanks for any help with this matter.

I think with the remora's the pumps are intended to sit just below the surface. The surface skimming boxes are designed for them to work that was as well. As for adjusting the remora's, lowering the collection cup vs raising it will determine the consistency of the skimmate. The lower you drop the collection cup, the wetter the skimmate so you will have to mess with it some to find your sweet spot or the skimmate consistency you are looking for
