Greetings,

I am plumbing out my drain pipes for my Bean Animal system, and I came across some posts where people were using PVC compression fittings to join up their pieces rather than the union fittings (slip style). I'm certainly no plumber, but it seems that both would do the job, and I can't see much difference. The drawback that I heard on the slip unions is that you are cutting pipe and throwing them away if you need to make changes. Is one or the other a better choice, or is it just what you feel like using?

all do respect I think estanoche missread, or possible doesn't know what a compression fitting is.

The compression fitting would give you a little play with lowering or raising a standpipe, and is completly removable so, iether will prob work. I have used one before in a return line behind a tank and had no probs.

Use the union!! God knows if you are going to rethink your plumbing and want to take the dang thing apart :) Get a threaded union, then you can reuse it later on other installations

+1 for the union. You can get them threaded and change the plumbing anytime you want.

This is the compression fitting I am thinking of in my mind. There are designed to withstand pressure much greater than we run in our tanks. Is this the same kind we are talking about?
