the 2nd seabae just got powerheaded.

i had the cover on, so it didnt get minced. i had just pour'd water back in after a water change.

I walked away. didnt relize i stirred the sand up and loosend the seabea grip.

came back couldnt find the anonome, looked up saw it,

shut it down removed the cap it stuck it self back to the glass (with the screen thing that comes wiht maxi's) let it sit for a few min, it worked its way out of the screen. (then released it) hung out for a min, then let go its self.

i put it back where it was b4, its diging ageain.

I think i might have hurt it tho.

Bummer...Those things sure love powerheads! When I had mine in my first tank in 04, never had that problem...Aw well, hope he pulls through for you

there is a possibility it will be fine. I have made a few mistakes with some of my anenomes and they all recover(as long as they were healthy to begin with) best of luck

my long tentacle got hurt by one of my powerheads one time, i thought it was gonna die because the foot got hurt a little and some of the tenticles were gone but other than that it survived, good luck dood

i was about to chuck it, but then i desided not 2.

its move about the rocks now insted of the sand

you always have to watch them. they will move all over the place if they do not like the location due to not enough food or too much light etc. sometimes they will settle in a spot for months without moving then start to move. keep your eye on corals also they can put out a serious sting and kill off your corals.

How's the anemone doing?

A sabae was my first thing in my tank years ago. Found it in a powerhead one morning. My had damage to the foot and it made it a few weeks but it obviously had an infection that slowly spread. Just keep an eye on it. I too gave up on anenomes pretty quick. I only have a rock anenome now. They are usually brown/white, but I found one that was ultra green with a purple mouth. I hasn't moved in over a year. Rock anenomes generally don't move so if you can find one they are OK. It's about 5" across which is about as big as they get, so they are not great for clowns, but my Maroon striped clown lives in it anyway. He justs sorta hovers over it and then lays on it a night to sleep.

If the anemone is wandering the tank unfortunetely is not happy where it's at. What might be the reason for it not being able to settle down? Other than the fact that sebaes could very well be the hardest host anemones to keep in a tank.

dude, i had 2 the first one look like crap. (didnt know tho) the 2nd one was looking better (but not great) the 2nd powerheaded it self.

Im gonna get my self the next RTA that arives at my lfs i work at.

i went back 2 the store to get the RTA (that has bin there for months) he sold it and 2 clowns 15 min b4 i got there.

hmm if your planning on getting an anemone again ehehe.
make sure you buy it with a rock.... trust me, you'll save yourself the worry and stress over the anemone walking around.

Gaby - even if the RBTA is sold with the rock, there is no guarantee that once it is in the tank it will stay. The flow, lighting, chemistry, etc may make it want to wander to a different location.

ya, but moveing it from the tank 2 your tank will be way eazyer if its on a rock.




i cant belave that they RTBA sold while i was on the way back 2 the store.

I strongly encourage you to read the links posted in the other thread on anemone care. Make sure you understand what you are looking for in a healthy specimen, and how to properly care for it. If you don't find one that is healthy, then it will be doomed. Look at the color and make sure there are no signs of bleaching, check out the foot for any tears, don't buy one floating around the tank, don't buy one that is deflated, and check the mouth and make sure it is closed. Ask questions about how long its been in the store, etc. to make sure you are getting a healthy animal. Cover all and any intakes, so your new anemone doesn't meet the same demise as the sebaes.
