I currently have a 35G tank setting up with about 50+ pounds of cured LR, running a Jebo skimmer and a DIY HOB fuge I also run 3 power heads, 1 502 and two eheim balls. My total flow is approx ( including skimmer & DIY HOB ) should be around 1500 Gallons per Hour. Now my question is my power heads run 24/7 I have no timers on them to change flow patterns, is this a ok thing to do or will I run into trouble down the road. The flow in my tank looks good and I see very few and small deadspots that can easily be tended to, I use a very shallow sand bed only about 2" at it's deepest spots. I dread the thought of having more timers or having to buy yet another gizmo but if it is something I have to do I will do it..

Any thoughts ??

it's not recomened, but it's what i do in 3 different tanks. i aim the discharges at each other for some turblence and i use hydor deflectors on some of the heads

I dont see any problem with leaving your PH's on 24\7, I always have. IMO SPS would be the only reason I would start setting up timers for flow..... What are you keeping??

As it stands now I have one polyp and some xenia and soon to get some zoos..I plan to see what starts to grow off the LR I got as I see some things starting to grow. If it is simple and hardy I will be keeping it any good idea's ??

I've alway run my pumps/powerheads all out 24/7 without any problems. I think the majoity does as well...:)

Agree with all here. You do not have too much actual flow for your set-up and 24/7 appears just fine. Wavemaker timers can be bought used cheap enough, but will not necessarily add much with your current inhabitants.
