Well the northwest decided to get a little mean today. Sub freezing temp and high winds managed to knock out the power this evening. This dropped the house temps to the mid 50s and the tank bottomed out at 74.2F with me heating water out on the back porch in the freezing cold on the BBQ. Well I need to find a better way to keep the tank warm and the water moving before the next unexpected outage. I got lucky, only 6 hours long.

I was there with you too! I have a 20 QT tank that was dropping into the 60's! I was not a happy camper. Then, just after the power came on in the late morning, it went back out again for another 5 hours in the afternoon. I was heating tank water under dozens of votive candles for hours, dripping it in, heating some more.... not a fun day. It figures the power would cut out on the coldest day of the year! I was supposed to be cleaning today

I hope everyone else out there is ''hooked up''!

Susie my power just came back on at midnight! the temp in my house got down to 57 degrees. I went and bought a power inverter and ran my heaters and power heads in both tanks with it, I kept my nano at 78 degrees and kept my 120 at 74 degrees, I had to go outside every 45 minutes to start my truck to keep the battery charged, but it did work well.
Good luck to any one else who is struggling with power outtages!!!

Yep another 12 hour power outage for me to. I had to get up at 2:30am to crank up the generator. Nothing like freezing cold 30mph winds first thing in the morning, lol. I had to go to work at 4am and the power ame back on at 8:am so the wife turned off the generator, well 1/2 hour later the power was back out again!!!!!! and the wife could get the gen back on again. Well 7 hours later I got home and got the tank back up again. it was down to 72.
Man that three big hits in a couple of months, I guess I will see how stable this puppy is , lol

good luck all

Man its hasnt been this cold for years. I'm still out and even with the generator I can only hit 76. I guess I need to go in search of more heaters. 400 watts isnt doing much.

Well glad to hear others made it through. Later today I am going to head out Indoor Reef and see if they managed to keep the power on. I know he was moving shop a week or two ago so have no idea if he was done or still in the process.

I feel very fortunate to have made it thru that with just a hour or so with no power. It did get so cold in my basement that even with the power running my tank got down to 75 from 78. I added my extra heater from my QT setup and it seems that even tho it was only a extra 100w it did the trick last night. Poor DisturbedReefer's not having a power problem either but his furnace sure did crap out on him, the last I spoke to him his house was 47deg! Brrr.

Power was out for almost 12 hours. Tank temp dropped to 60. Note...Hydnophora does NOT like low temps. All my frags basically nechrophied (not sure if thats a word). They rotted away to nothing. I think I'm going to loose a couple of the heads on my candy cane doral that I got from you big t. Everything else looks ok at this point. We'll see. Deffinately going to get a generator now.

Dang. I hope things survived Matt. It is awesome that we do all we can do keep these little 'boxes' nice and comfy.

Best,
Ilham
