Well as some of you know Uncle Sam is allowin me to move so ill be takin down my 220 tank. Since its going to be such as hassle with movin twice im just goin to sell all the livestock and the tank too. My question, since i dont have a clue, it what should i do. Rember i live in S.Dak with about 2 other known reefers, lol. Heres my thoughts and you can add on them. Take pictures of everything and give the internet first dibs on the corals, whatever is left give to the LFS. The fish ill have to see if the few business with saltwater tanks want them, my tangs are pretty special, the YT was a rescue tang ive had since the beginnin :( The biggest problem i see is that most the corals are attached to some big pieces of LR, shippin might be crazy, and the LR that is left over ill have to do somethin with as well.. I went to my LFS yesterday and she told me to keep her updated, so we'll. Just want some personal experience on the subject, thanks!

I placed an ad on my states local reefing board & sold off everything in three or four groups. How I managed this is got everyone interested in something to all agree on a date & they would all show up at the same time. It really worked out well. The people who wanted corals got the first grabs, we bagged them & cashed out all of them first. Then I started removing water, gave it to the guy that wanted just the tank & stand. then the rocks I sold off in more groups, they got theirs next. The last was the fish people, then after all the water was gone we got into equipment & last tank, stand etc.

Any SPS/LPS you are needing to sell?? I might be interested if price+shipping looks OK. Could you PM a list of all coral livestock you are looking to move? It's going to be tought since SD is pretty sparsely populated as you mentioned.

You will be surprised how many reefers are out there. I would try local first. Will the LFS not try to sell the fish/coral for you?

try to put an add Jiddy bom bom, if you're gonna sell it as whole then try to think of a reasonable price so the tank goes fast or if you're gonna split everything then i guess it's better if you chisel the rocks and sell the corals that way and then the left over of the rocks you can just sell them to the store.
It's hard to let go off things that we take care of :( so i feel your pain dood

In today's market, I'd look into learning about coral shipment in a hurry. The LFS won't give you anywhere near a good deal, nor should they have a market if you're half of the local customers.

Give people shipping straight up, no markup. Combine shipping for better deals, etc. I'd definitely start making a list and start taking photos. Maybe you could get real lucky, and a club would group together on a group buy siutation, and you could get away fewer and larger shipments.

If you get everything posted, I'll share it with my club, we're about 100 strong, or so.

EDIT: As for the corals on base rock, a chisel will take care of that. Just chip around the coral and break away part of the rock at the same time. It gives the buyer a mountable piece of rock instead of a retarded reef plug.

i totally agree 100 % with Jason, it seems like now people like to do that better because you can save a little bit of money on shipping :) .

LMBO!!! that's so true

Well apparently someone dropped the ball and my retraining has been denied, so now i have to submit a waiver. The good news, looks like i wont be moving
