you can buy a good RO unit for $100...it will pay for itself after a few water changes

I agree with getting your own rodi, there are plenty of cheap units on ebay. Dont use any bacterial or other meds in your display tank. They are for qt only.

the lfs is called aquariums plus, but they handle alot of stuff and it seems that theyre focus is no longer on marine fish and that seems to be a prob, now as far as making your own ro that makes more sense than anything, wondering though after the inital investment of say 120$ could you tell me anything about filter replacement, filter life, things like that never really messed with anything like that.
Thanks again for all the help

it depends on your tap water..mine seems to have alot of sediment in it..i am going to start replacing the sedimen filter more often($10).....you can by a TDS meter( $30)with the unit..it will let you know when to replace the RO and DI membrane...they normally last a few months at least....i just replaced all filters and it was $125!!! more than my unit costs!!!they are worth it though..i used to buy about $30-$40 of water at the grocery store every week..my unit paid for itself in about a month and it is way more convenient
