I use it on my 24 gal aquapod and I am very pleased with it.
I am getting some good coralline growth.

I only dose it about once a week.

i use it, but only once or twice a week...it works great for me..i wouldn't use the directed amount..i think it is too much!!

It all depends on what all is using it up in the tank as well though Ron. If you have tons of corals and coraline that uses it up, then the demand will be a bit more. I used mine daily (can't remember the amount though, but I think it was a cap full per day in a 75gal) and my parameters remained stable, but for someone else, it may be different. The best way to use it is test your water every few days and adjust the doseages accordingly:)

How long did you use it before you saw results? And how much sead coraline did you have?

Do you mean me??? :p I got the stuff because I wanted coraline to grow and heard it was good stuff. I had some already on my rocks in a few places and even got some scrapings of coraline out of the wild and added them to my tank to seed it more, but it still wouldn't spread that well. I was told that alk, mag and calcium needed to be in balance to achieve good coraline growth and that is what the purple up basically provided. Once my parameters got to where they needed to be, the coraline began to spread and I had nice colorful rocks before the bottle was finished. Here's a pic of one of my rocks as well as the bottom of my tank after using the purple up. In any event, you can achieve the same thing with anything that will give you the proper alk, calcium and magnesium levels:)

 yeah you! I knew you would respond so I didn't specify.

Ok, I'm going to start using it everyother day. I've only been using it once a week with the water change because I was scared that I would jack the Ca without realizing it because I don't test. Also my seed supply is not too healthy. I only have a little on a couple of rocks and they spent 2 weeks in the dark, so my coralline might be worried about surviving rather than multiplying.

Nice picks, thats from your 70gal not your cube right? It's kinda hard to see; is coralline covering 100% of the bottom or is that just the reflection?

LOL...That's coraline all over the bottom:p and yes, that was the 75gal. Most all of my rocks were like that until I added the halides and the change in intesity caused it to fade away somewhat. I'm just starting to get some color back now...Coraline tends to prefer the bluer spectrum so chances are it will grow quicker where actinics are being used :)

from my other post...

As long as you are monitoring your levels, you should be ok...keep track of Ca, Alk, Mg, and make sure they stay in balance. One other thing you need to watch with this stuff is your iodine levels. It contains iodine, and while iodine is quickly used up in the tank or skimmed out, it's also very easy to overdose the stuff. I'd keep an eye on that level, make sure it does not excede 0.06ppm.....

yeah I use purple up on my 20 gal and am very happy with it. I only put in a capful every week but it seems to make the coralline algae growth noticeable...it is real good stuff, I dont put any other calcium or iodine in my tank though because purple up is super concentrated...so when I was using other calcium and iodine I kinda stopped using it because it seemed to overwelm everything....

I am usally a sceptic when it comes to new products but when we set up the 4-125 reef tanksin the store We used purple up from day one and we have amazing coraline growth. I like the product alot.

If you keep your levels correct you do not need it. I have never used it and would not dare put it in my tank. I can not keep the coralline scrapped as it is. It is much cheaper to just keep your levels correct. I have heard it works though.

Supposedly, that's just what it does. It maintains these same levels (cal, alk etc) which is why you have to test while using it to see if you aren't adding too much or too little. when I used the purple-up, that was all I supplemente in my tank. Now I use 2 part B-Ionic because I heard it was cool
