So i have what i think is red slime algea in my 29. but I also have a fuge on the back that is putting little microbubbles into my tank, The bubbles seem to attach to the algea and float to the surface throughout the day. i dont know how to stop the bubbles without filtering the pods out of the water returning fromt he fuge and I have been doing 2 10% water changes per week and siphoning the algea. I also am running de-nitrifyer and carbon in my sump and have a large skimmer. I dont know what else to do to get rid of all of the algea and the bubbles. Any advice?

Possibly try slowing down the water through the refugium, and keep the refugium output about halfway above the water line. This way with the slower flow, it will trap fewer bubbles, and the bubbles it does trap might have a chance to just dissipate immediatley out of the end of the pipe into the air, without being pushed into the tank water.

i hadnt thought of that thanks for the idea. I will try that and let you know

i cant tell with the lighting but it looks like bubble algae. every time you pop em... they grow more... the only thing i found was mainly removal durring water changes, and over time water cleanliness.

micro bubbles are not the bad thing everyone plays em out to be. if its a new item micro bubbles are the norm. over time it resides.... unless your sucking air.... in such case you will get micro bubbles....

Are you sure it's the bubbles from the fuge? Maybe it's the algae 'pearling' by releasing oxygen?

i turned the fuge return down last night and there were still bubbles when i got home this evening so i think it might be the pearling. What is the best way to combat this?

Well, get rid of the algae and the pearling goes away I guess :)
I think I had the same issue at one point on my 40 gallon. Fixed it with weekly water changes, a toothbrush and a siphon hose to suck out the algae as it came loose. You could also add a phosban reactor. That would proabably help a great deal.
