Hey I was wondering if anyone could give me some input here. I currently have two Tunze stream 6100's and a 7095 controller. The Tunze 6100 is at max 3,170gph. I have one in each corner of the tank and have them running from 60% up to 100%.

Things have grown in and dead spots have developed. I was thinking about adding two more 6100's BUT..... What if I were to sell my Tunze's and pick up a Vortech MP60w ES instead?

Its 7,500gph which would only be an improvement of 1160gph over my current configuration. I know the Vortech's have a wider flow and really get the water moving back and forth.

Would I be happy with a single MP60, or am I better off keeping my tunze's and adding two more? I know that as far as GPH goes four Tunze's KILL a single MP60W but I'm looking for any excuse to buy one.

Here is a video of Mp60 in action.....

I don't think you would be happy with just one powerhead. I know the vortech can move a lot of water I just don't think one would be enough on a 210 gallon tank. No way you could eliminate all dead spots.

I say you go with two of the MP40s and sell me your tunze. I mean because the MP40's are super nice and have alot of contollability (is that even a word)

I'd recommend picking up two more Tunze'. One vortech of any size wont be enough for your tank and rather than starting over you can add two more for less than the cost of two MP40s since you dont need a controller. Plus the new Tunze's 6100 series is nice because its a ball and can be directed in almost any direction regardless of where you have them mounted in the tank. They are easier to make less conspicuous than Vortech's IMO.

I'm think what a lot of others are, you need more than one pump. I run 2 MP20's on my 80 gallon supplemented by 2 Tunze 6025's tucked in behind the rock work. That MP60 will move water for sure but from what I've experinced in my tank, it has taken more smaller pumps in the right spots as opposed to fewer high output pumps. The great thing about Vortech is that all their models link wirelessly now if I remeber correctly so you could run an MP60 or 2 MP40's supplemented by MP10's or 20's along the back or behind you rock work if that works for your setup.
Trido is right about if you stick with Tunze and the flexibility of placement. My 6025's disappeard in my display almost completley and I couldn't be happier with them.

I loved my Tunzes...I thought Tunze 6100s were in the lines of 3500-3800 gph flow, 6200s were in the lines of 5300- 5800gph flow...someone enlighten me please?

It's done! I ordered 2 more 6100's. So I'll have four total. They will be here in about a week.

Thanks for all the input everyone. Maybe someday the mp60's will come down in price and I'll get two!

I was going to advise that you pick up two more Tunzes, particularly since you have a controller for them. With four you can mix and match and generate some really nice flow.

I was going to say that you might be happier with the Tunzes. They seem to be bullet proof.
I tried a pair of the MP40ES's and while they were very slick and low profile, and awesome looking, the noise bothered me.
Once I noticed the noise ( while watching tv) I couldn't ignore it.
I was sooo happy I found someone to trade my Vortechs for a pair of Tunzes and a controller.
