Rain barrel hose spicket?

I'm getting ready to buy a 55 gallon rain barrel and I'm thinking about getting one with a hose spicket attached. But I'm concerned about the metal and saltwater? Should it be OK or is there another option?

metal + saltwater = definite no no. Are you just trying to find something to use as a storage device for your mixed SW?

If you can find one with a plastic fitting it would work, or you can replace with a bulk head and a DYI PVC spicket

+1 on what Derbird said. If you're using it to premix water then I would say no go with metal and your saltwater, but what I do is use it just for fresh RO/DI water, fill and mix my salt in a bucket when needed. Just a thought.

ok thanks. thats what i figured but wasnt sure if copper was ok in salt. what my plan is is to mix in the 55 gallon and and put a spicket or something on there so i can do water changes right out of the barrel to the tank. plan on having another barrel outside for measuring. pump 55 gallons into the outside container then just pump straight out the mixing one into the tank with a external pump inbetween on a toggle switch or something. no more wheeling 33 gallon brut trash cans back and forth

Keep copper away from both your salt water AND rodi.

Copper is a leathal toxin to both corals and inverts. All copper in the house must keep 50 feet from my tank at all times! Sorry I didn't mention this sooner. I assumed it was stainless. But we all know how to beak up ASSuME LOL

COPPER BAD!!! lol. They have other metal nozzles you can choose from but copper definitely not good. The slightest can wipe out your whole tank.

lol oh yeah. copper treatment for ich and stuff. total brain fart. ill probably just do a bulkhead a ball halve with a male hose barb and go from there

so all my plumbing in my house is copper, so am I correct that the RODI unit is removing anything that leaches out? Have had mixed reef for 5 years and never had a issue? The water never touches copper again after the RODI unit.
