Recently we have been worried about reefers using and assuming that the refracts that ever one has been using in this hobby should be off - 1.5 ppt or -.15 % or - .0015 SG. We have been telling people in short to raise the seamix "15 units" higher to = 35 ppt ( to read 36.5), 3.5 ( to read 3.65 and 1.0265 A( to read 1,0280).

Thes tests have been completed on a number BUT the SAME brand refracts. These are the ones on the below imgage. Low and behold, they should read these values on a good lab refract and would need these adjustments but about 95 % of the ones reefers are using are off from the fractory that exact amount we are correcting for

So it apears that with the these Chinese refracts, zeroed to RO/DI water, that they are right on when tested to a seawater std, when thney should not be. So it it reads 35 ppt, 3.5 % or 1,0265 no adjustment is needed to our suprise. Just use as is :D

Note: This is only for these reracts !!

Thanks Boomer! I'm confused, though....I checked the box my refract came in and it says RHS-10ATC, but it doesn't look like that. Should we be looking at a particular brand name? This is mine: Premium blue Refractometer

*edit - Boomer edited his post to show the correct refract

Sorry my error the Blue ones are Xiamen Ming Xin Instrument Company and use the same model munbers It is the blue one we see in this hobby. The image I gave, or those RHS-10ATC that are black, are from Huake Instrument Co., Ltd. All those tested are the blue Xiamen Ming Xin

I edited that post :D

Your scale should look like this
