Most BTA's lose their bubble tips in captivity no one really knows why.

I have read in places that they are starved for light if their tentacles are long, but I dont think thats the case.

If the tentacles are very thin and the oral disk is unsually expanded then yes the lighting is weak and will not survive long term. In this photo you can see how my BTA is dong under a 130 watts of PC's and then how it looks when it's under a 250 watt MH:

I have mine since 2004 and after 45+ clones... I still have the bubble.
