So I bought a used spectrapure ro/di unit.

The guy said something that got me thinking..

keep the 0 tds water for ato system and use the waste water for the mixing barrel. He said the mixing water is high in TDS aways which makes ensce to my little brain but thought I would ask what others thought? the tds from my house tap water is 27.

the only step that the waste water is missing is the membrain so it would be filtered pretty good???

Then you would be adding those TDS's to your tank. Which totally defeats the purpose of your unit.

Bad idea. You can however use the water to water plants or fill a washing machine if you want to find a use for waste water.
