I have a newly acquired Rose tip anemone that came with 2 tomato clowns. For four days it was doing fine then this morning looked like it was melting away. I fed it and stuck it in my sump and now it looks great again. Question is, do I just need to feed it more or can my BTA be affecting it someway since the clowns go back and forth between the two? Feed about twice a week.

Nope, it is fine with the bulb tip. I have a rose and and green bulb tip in the same tank at my house and a clients house. It was probley pooping when you saw it "melting away"

Is the rose a bubble tip also or the rose rittieri I have been seeing? Thes 2 guys got along well. Then the rose split and had to get rid of the gBTA, my tank was being taken over LOL.

Ken is that picture from your tank? If it is, it is really beautiful OMG! You guys are really going to make me go back on my word and yank out those bio-balls and set up a full blown reef! I am soo tempted to, but I gotta wait to see if a little one will be on the way shortly...I guess this would be the only time in a man's life he would want to "shoot blanks" (LOL JK ie. of blanks).

Copepod, I'm not sure about a Rose tip and a BTA fighting, but I do know that some of the species will. My friend had to remove his carpet anemone because it use to beat up his Haitian Anemone. That was the reason why when I had and anemone, it was only 1.

Yep, that' s my tank about 4 months ago or so. You can check out my web page if ya want, you know, click on my name, click view homepage...........

I should have said Pink Tip

Actually it is the Pink Tip. I don't know why I flaked out and said Rose. Yes, one would be best but I ended up with this when buying all of someones tank contents. And contrary to most everything I have read the two clowns are living in it. At night the biggest one takes the pink tip and the smaller one goes to the gBTA. During the day they go back and forth. I put it back in the tank and it is looking good. We will watch it.

Good luck and I hope it works out. You are very lucky to have them host both anemones. I had that one anemone in my tank with 2 percs, 1 black and white perc, 1 tomato, and 1 sebae clown and none of them ever went close to it. Hopefully it was just the move that is causing your current problem in your tank which may take a little while for the Pink tip to adjust.

Copepod, How big is your anenome? inches across? If the anenome is to small and you have clownfish in it...it will die. The clownfish stresses the anenome out to much if it is small. The minimum size I believe I read was 3.5 inches across.

Well today it is doing fine. Maybe it was just relieving itself like Wrightme43 said. Here is a pic.
