So i got the tank a xmas gift... but i am not sure exactly what it is.. it looks like a purple flower.. pretty awesome. Any know what it is?

More importantly the wifey likes it too..

So last night, i happen to make a trip down to IKEA, YaY! so that in turn, turned into a trip to barrier reef!!! now for a real YaY!!! I ended up picking up a tiger pistiol shirmp for Homer *the orange striped goby* and within 30 seconds, Diggy *the shrimp* was roaming around with the goby, pretty flippen awesome if you ask me... it was as if they knew each other, as soon as the shrimp came kinda close the goby swam over and was basically right on top of him... crazyness... but anyway the kids named the shrimp diggy, because about 2 mins in the tank it was making a home under a rock on the back for the both of them.. Also, yesterday i picked up the stand for the biocube, a stealth heater, an aquatic life 115 mini skimmer, and the inTank refugium with fishgaurd.. so looks like i will be busy playing today... once i can get home from work... which is so lame btw!

So tonite, I got some new corals, and a Pink Skunk Clown.

The corals, were mostly random mushrooms, and a leather and medium size zoo colony.

My wife comes in and says she got me a goodie... haha it was a magnifying glass, cuz i always got my face to the glass just watching... i thought it was a great idea..

well too my surprise after looking at all my fish, corals, i started looking at a red hermit that happen to be right in the front.. wowzers... thems is crazy!!!

anyway, i started to notice these really small tiny itsy bitsy white specs on the glass, and they are moving..

kinda spooked me for a min, thinking CRAP i might have got a parasite or something, i started searching all the fish, and couldnt find anything on the fish, or corals, and they seem to be real close to the sand bed, maybe 2.5 - 3 inches from the sand bed but 60% within an inch of the sand.

I started lookin up stuff on here instantly, and i came across a few threads of people talking about white specs, and stuff and a few suggestions were copepods.. Then i got to thinking, well i started this tank 12/14 so the tank isnt even a month old yet, and i had bought live sand, so this could be it...

now i cant take pictures of it as they are so small.. but my first instinct was to read, then to ask...

So here i am, not so panic'd anymore...

can someone please comfirm that it is most likely copepods...

PLEASE!!! hahaha

I will get some pics of the corals and skunk * which my nephews named " Kyru Swag " i dunno but thats what i get for letting them name it.. *

so whatcha guys think? copepods?

You say they are white. They more than likely are pods.
You've started buying coral. Thats great! We expect pics of all they new additions you know! haha!

Have you taken a flash light to the rocks at night yet? If not you really should. You wont believe what might come out and about at night.

Right now i am working on building the specifics, light placement, specific mods to be made to the hood during construction for example i have seen quite a few people put a nice size fan in the middle of the hood..., I am very open to input, idea, recommendations, etc..

Let me know what your thinking..

Very COOL Damien, I think that you will really like the LED route and looks as though off to a great start. You may want to add a different white and blue to the mix to broaden the spectrum out a bit ie: from RapidLED or Reef LED +2 Blues (not Royal Blue) and +2 10K whites or +2 Green (Cyan), The 6048 drivers will easily handle 14 LED's each especially if you tune them down to 700ma. Your also welcome to swing by my place and see what adding a mix looks like plus I still have a mini-colony of Birdsnest for you.

Cheers, Todd

P.S. Like the NSR Banner
