I've encountered mixed feelings on this little creature. Do they really clean ICH off of fish? Someone in my LFS said that it was a myth and I was told by others that they did clean ICH. Does anybody know what they really do?

They really do! That is why they are called cleaner shrimp. They pick off all kinds of parasites from various fish and eat them

Thanks! Do they typically work better in groups? I only have one. How are they on the bioload? How long until fish and shrimp feel comfortable with one another? I've had the shrimp a week and it's starting to respond to me but the fish seem to shy away from it.

they will setup 'cleaning stations' and sometimes will clean your fish. most of the time, if your fish dont have parasites they will ignore the shrimp. Arent a strain on the bioload either.
