Scooties Replacement Project!

Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

No rush I know that the MJ1200 will work but how well I don't know.
I have a Mag 7 & it will boil water LOL!

Just checked, The Mag & won't even fit in the chamber, so that option is out!

I ordered a few additions to my RSM cube, needs more flow because I'm getting accumulation of Detritus so I'm adding a second PH but this one has more power,, the two combined will have about 1250gph alone.
Hydor Koralia 3 Circulation Pump/Powerhead UL 850 gph

The skimmer isn't cranking out enough so I'm trying a new PH with more GPH to see If it will work better, otherwise I may get another skimmer again.
ViaAqua Aquarium Water Pump/Powerhead, 370gph

Last, I just sold my chiller & was using the Temp. controller, so I had to dish out more money for a new one, expensive but well worth it. IMO
Aqua Logic Digital Temperature Controller - Single Stage

I'll have to post the updates when I get them in & we'll hope they all work out for the better.;)

I replaced 80% water & scrubbed the LR's, siphoned the sb throughly this afternoon. I got the parts in today so the temp. controller & the extra Ph is installed. I've decided to lighten up on the amount of LR to allow for more flow throughout & easier access for cleaning, I'll sell off a few pieces this weekend when we remove the big tank. The only thing left is the skimmer pump, I'll have to deal with that soon to try & get more out of the skimmer. The corals perked up right away after the change but still too cloudy to take pics, that will have to wait:)
Next project is an ATO it is important to get the water level very consistent, slight evaporation & salinity goes up!

Major clean-up today, as you may already know, I sold my big tank, last weekend it was removed. So today I did major cleaning in the room & made a move from the table it was on to the new/old stand. I was able to reuse the stand I made for my Ro/DI tank, It fit just right, all I need to do is enclose it, I'll do that at a later date. I adjusted the Hydor Koralia 3 & the 2, If I had to do it again I'd get two of the 3's because at 850gph each it works out just right for this small tank. I also sold off more LR today and rearranged the LR, this looks much better. I had an encrusted coral on one of those rocks so I had to keep it in the tank until I sold it. I think this will make cleaning up easier now that I don't have so much clutter in the tank. I might go get a couple more corals this weekend to add to the little tank, hope the PC T5's will support LPS corals. I plan on doing another large WC soon also to help get the tank back on track. I have to say, after mounting the stand light, wiring, controller & all of the wiring, this tank is coming together. I also installed an Aqua-C remore skimmer & maxi Jet 1200 for the skimmer pump, I have two metal hose clamps holding it together right now, so I'll need better options soon, as I'm afraid these will rust out very soon, any Ideas on how to clamp these hose is welcome. I do have plastic clamps of small & slightly smaller size but neither fits tight enough or too loose. Since I removed the crappy RSM skimmer, this one works much better but hey, I sure could go for even better one day. I'll hopefully post pics tomorrow, It should be cleared up by then.

The hose keeps sliding off Charlie, maybe I need a tighter fit hose, thing is I'm using a Maxi-1200. I may use that other bigger pump If I can get the right barb fitting for it!

Ok time for some eye candy! :D

Looking good Scooty! Trying out that new stuff huh??? :D

If you look at the 5th & 6th photo closely, your see the flash projecting over the water. I have a remote flash under the hood:) The flash will overpower any MH or other lightings! Did some shots with a 300mm lens & spacers but still not the effect I was looking for.

OK, Pics of new light!
First two photos are with the 250W HQI 10K & T5's, I will replace this light soon with a 12 Reeflux!
