I have a bunch of this stuff growing in my tank and recently it really started to take off and spread. I'd like to remove a bunch but when I try to pull it off the rock it just tears and regrows. Is there a way to inject it or remove it . I dont want to kill it all just remove the over growth into my other corals. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Just a thought, and IDK if it will work. If you are able to cut it as close to the rock then try to cover the remaining tissue with coral glue or something similar.

I would suggest offering to trade your xenia covered rock with bare live rock from another. Many reefers with a lot of empty space might enjoy it.

Hello,
I have had to remove thousands of colonies over the years. This is how I do it. I use a pair of tweezers and carefully peel them from where they attach to the rock. The tissue is tougher there and tends not to tear. That way you can remove all the tissue.

Regards,
Kevin

I use my thumbnail to peel it off the work. Sometimes I don't get it all, but mostly I do. It can bs a war of attrition one that I am winning for sure.
