He he,

The Skimmer, the bain of my existence.

Since I can't find a Euro Reef - CS8-2 (or 1 for that matter) anywhere (Except for that horrid company that I mentioned earlier). Here are my alternatives

1) IAP 24inch
2)AquaC EV180

it's for our 125gal which is plumbed for tons of flow. What do you guys think? I can't do any more research without going crosseyed!

Blue Sierra does sell Euro-reefs. I think that they usually have to order them but you could call and see.

my Sea Clone is realy not doing the job in my 55 reef, i have to use a hang-on , does any one have any ideas what will work effectively on my tank...? i need to do something about this since i started to grow-out frags... cw. :)

Another one of our sponcers Reeffantasea also makes one that works pretty good.

I have one of his dual chambered phosphate/carbon reactor & it was well made for a good price you can't beat it.

is the i.a.p. 24" one of his beckett skimmers? if it is i'd go with that one :)
i do like ev-180's too, a good skimmer with the right pump.

What's the right pump?.... I've been looking into purchasing one of these.

a dolphin 800 works great with a ev-180, you might have to put a gate valve on it, depending on plumbing.

Would you consider the other recommended pump (mag 7) to still be acceptable?

the mag 7 was recomended to me through marinedepot. I'm still trying to get the euroreef - I've decided to wait for it. Thanks for the help finding a place that has it in stock. I've got a couple of calls in to attempt to lock one of these elusive suckers down!

I found a Euroreef CS8-2 after all of that. Goodness, they are hard to come by. Oh well, I didn't really need to put anything in my tank for two weeks... sigh.

Hi SaltyTemple, met you on the s. end tank tour. How is the new skimmer working out? Was it hard to install and how was adjusting it once running?

Got the skimmer - TODAY!!! Sigh - It just barely fit under our tank, but it's a beautiful sight! Worth the wait, got the CS8-2. It's huge, quite and a mean skimming machine. The LR comes tomorrow! I'll finally have something alive in the tank!

I'm glad you finally got the skimmer. I looked at that same one, but it was a monster and I couldn't sacrifice the space. I bought and AquaC instead and should have it Monday/Tuesday if the weather permits delivery. Let me know how it works so I can kick myself in the hip if it is better than mine.

So far so good, I've never seen such a large skimming receplicle! Still trying to get the right height to skim. First couple of days it was too low :)

Shauna, don't be surprised if it starts skimming a little better day by day. There is usally a break in period for them. Can be 2-3 days to a week. I have read that people run them in hot water to cut down on this break in period. Keep an eye on it.
