Does anyone know what type of skimmer this is? AND, more importantly, how to operate it?

It is 30 inches tall. I've only had ASM skimmers before this one.

That looks like maybe a DIY version of an AquaC skimmer? Can you see what the injector looks like?

It looks like you are missing the injector. Get with me and I will help ya out on how to get it running.

I'm not sure what an injector is, but it sounds important. I took a couple more pictures of the pump and the means in which I think it was attached. This skimmer was working on a 450 gallon tank.

Is the injector the white thing the tubing is connected to?
What is the grey thing sticking out of the white tube with the blue valve?
What does the red twisty valve on the right do?

Thanks for all the help.....

I think so.

I think this is the air inlet with a valve to control the amount of air.

What does the red twisty valve on the right do?
This is a gate valve to control the outlet flow (and hence the water level inside the skimmer).

I agree with dpayner's replies. Almost similar to my AquaC EV-120 except my injector is attached to the black body

To operate this skimmer, do I plug in the pump with the water going in to the injector and turn the little blue valve to adjust the air input? Then adjust the red valve until I get the amount of skimmate I want?

Can it really be that simple?

The injector doesn't have anything pluged into it at all. That is what injects/sucks air into the skimmer. If you were to put your finger over the injector when it is running or close the blue valve on the injector, then the water level and bubbles will drop off in the skimmer. 1st attachment post #6 looks like it is setup right. If it works like an AquaC you'll have to elevate the skimmer in the sump so that the gate valve (the one with the red valve you turn on it) is above water level. Some other similar skimmers I've seen operate with that valve just under the water surface. Here's an old picture when I had my 75gal. You can see where the pump feeds the skimmer, how nothing attaches to the injector and howI have the gate valve above water level outside the sump. The second pic shows how it is now on my cube elevated above water level in the sump.

The white thing is the injector housing. It should house a beckett injector. Also it looks like you have it upside down. You should be able to open up the injector housing by unscrewing it. This will allow you to clean the injector. The injector will have three parts: the outer housing is two separate pieces, inside them will be a piece that looks like a plastic ball with an arrow head on it. That needs to be cleaned frequently to keep the skimmer working optimaly. The red knob is the gate valve that controls the water height. The little valve on the injector housing is the air control valve.

yes, it can!!! you pretty much hit it on the head viki:)

ROFL! I was thinking Vickie meant if you pump the water into the part of the injector where the valve is and just realized that that whole plumbing setup that the valve is connected to is called the injector:p My bad...:D

Thanks so much Everyone for your insight into this skimmer.
Hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to make it work from all your input. Should have the tank full in about a week...
I'll yell if I can't get it going.

Thanks again for all the help!
