Hi,

I am thinking of using an acrylic dome for the top of a Ø8" X 26" chamber for a recirulating skimmer.

I have heard about extruded acrylic expanding and swelling over time and this is my concern.

The chamber is cast but this dome I only know it is acrylic and that they manufacture them mainly for security cameras. I called and they said it wont cause problems with water making it swell , but i wonder if anyone here known anything about it? I will drill a hole in the top of the dome to glue a Ø4" neck to it and this will be for skimmmate to overflow into an Ø8" cup.

Thanks for reading :)

It just a blow molded acrylic dome. Chances are it is cast. When you blow mold extruded it tends to craze. You'll be able to tell when you glue it up, put a drop of weldon 16 on the scrap piece.

Thanks guys :)

I want to get this done after I get some cash from the next few pay checks.
This seemed to be the best way as I could not find much else that was able to taper from Ø8" to Ø4 or even Ø2" !
