Skimmer Question?

My tank is a biocube 29. I have been use biocube skimmer since it built up 1.5 years ago. But I'm think the skimmer really work! Different kinds of algae on the sand bed and rock....I only have four fishes, and feed once per day.

Does anyone have suggestion? I prefer small skimmer that can put in the biocube.

Algae issues are generally caused by poor water conditions. Old bulbs will give you issues also. Please post you water parameters so that we may better help you. Also what type of water are you using?

I do 20% water change monthly, I get the water from local pet store. Water parameter seems good, I use api saltwater test kit. The only problems is the PH always down to 7.8 and the KH is also low. I use 3x Ecoxotic Panorama LED.

Alot of time algae issues mean high phosphates. Whats the phosphate levels and the other parameters. Saying they seem ok doesn't give us the info needed to help.

I believe the Tunze 9002 will fit. InTank (InTank Media Baskets) sells an "upgraded cup" that is a better fit. The Aquatic Life 115 will fit the Oceanic BC29, but not the Coralife due to water depth issues.

They look ok except for the phosphate. The API PO4 test are pretty unrealiable for our systems. I would suggest you run a po4 sponge like Kents Phosphate Sponge.
Also what foods are you feeding? They too carry po4.

I feed them with Instant Ocean Soft Gel Foods. I'll try po4 sponge as well

I'm sorry I should of also asked how many times a day your feeding and how much. Also what type of filtration do you have? I highly recommend you up your water changes to 1x weekly or at the least 1x bi-weekly. Your monthly changes is obviously not enough. You want to make it so the algae actually starves to death. So as it dies you are removing those excess nutrients that are feeding it. Hence the extra water changes.

I feed them once per day, as much as they can eat. I'll try to increase the water change frequency. Thanks

They have a video on YouTube on the Tunze 9002 skimmers. One shows a guy who does a 2 part video putting one in a 29 gal. biocube.

That's what shinv said it was, I didn't think about it much past when I looked it up. I thought it was 9002, but shinv said 9004 and I didn't look it up anymore and I threw you under the bus. So 9002 it is. Anyway, it does fit in the biocube. Sorry about that Dave. How's that tank coming?
