Just when things are going great, POW!!! Right in the kisser!!Something is eating the skeleton of my torch.Last night I put on the lights and saw a small red fireworm along with amphipods right in the eaten area. Do you think they are eating the skeletan or just the decaying matter? Do you guys reccomend a freshwater or Lugol's dip? What else do you experianced reefers reccomend? I have 3 similar spots, and they are getting bigger.

Forgot to mention that there are 3 similar spots and they have grown.I just checked out my tank and a fingerleather frag that I added yesterday has also been attacked. About 2 months ago I HAD some eagle eye zoos that I saw amphapods eating and Anthony Calfo said they were probably just cleaning up dead matter. They are now gone. But there was no dead matter on my new frag and the torch looks great except where it is being eaten. Please help.

Last night , I leaned a drinking glass right against the eaten part of the torch and put a piece of shrimp in it and this is what I caught. I know he's probably not the culpret but I did see him in the eaten spot the night before. Anyway, somebody's got to pay for this crime!!! He's probably floating down the Hudson river right now. lol. He's next to a toothpick

Hum... different looking critter. See if you can get an ID on it. Then perhaps you can figure out if it was the culpret and if your likly to have more of them.

I can't see the pic but i am also at work and they run a pretty thick firewall.

Everyone says it not the worm that's causing me problems. everyone thinks I have an urchin that I haven't notice in a year, because thats the last time I got anything that it could have hitchhiked in on. I don't know, mabey. I was up till 3am last night and I'll be up for awhile tonight. I'm hopeing to see something.I know I still have a problem because in between 2 hourly checks, something did this to my GSP. I'm getting out my gun tonight.lol

That looks almost like a sponge (which wouldn't appear in 2 hours). Is it jelly-like to the touch? Could be an egg mass of some kind. Not sure though, the picture is difficult to tell.

Well, I just took it out of the water to check and, it is were I originally glued it to the rock. Something ate the soft material in between. Being that something took hunks out of the torch, It looked like the same thing.

"Everyone says" you got everyones opinion already? Was that in another thread? I would doubt the experience of this everyone especially with the urchin comment. First off I would get the worm IDed. It could very well have just been there to eat the already dead part of the animal. To me it doesn't look like anything I have typically seen. Second post a little more info. How big is your tank? Have you lost any other corals in the last couple of months? The amphapods you mentioned are you sure they are amphapods. Sorry for all the questions, but with the info posted so far there isn't much advice I can give.

I know many forums don't like you sending people to other forums, but for an ID on that worm try marinedepot.com and post to Ron in the invert section.

Re. GORDONIOUS ,When you say,"was that in another tread" I don't know if you mean the other thread here, at this site about flatworm ID. I posted that thread because 2 weeks ago I found one, Didn't think much of it, and now that I'm checking the tank so often to find out what happened to my torch,I found a total of 5 worms. But that's a totally different topic. Now if you mean did I post for help at other sites? Yes, I'm trying to get as much info. and help as possible. Now If everyone says they have given me all the help they can, then just let this thread float off into the sunset. I appreciate everyones input, Even "everyones" and I'm checking the tank with the possibility that I may even find an urchin, you never know! As far as my tank, it is a 75gal. going good for 2 years. Most of the animals have been with me for 2 to 4 years. About 6 weeks ago I did lose my eagle eye zoos. At night I saw pods eating them but everyone said they were eating dead matter. I'm not sure whats going on. Everything else looks picture perfect.

Looks awsome. Really like the tank. Image made me think of something though. I'm not too familiar with what this would look like, but perhaps you have had a frag of a coral roaming around and stinging things? Just saw your huge anemone. Are the animals you've had trouble close to each other? Just a thought. I hope you figure out what is going on. This isn't a fun mystery.
