Randy Reed is doing a presentation for Portland on the 19th of October? Portlands Meetings are on Sundays. He asked if that would work with us? I sent Ghazni the letters we shared. I am not sure what it would detail for funds, transportation, etc.

But it sounds positive for a short notice. I also asked Adam Blundall for October or November. New speakers for fresh new topics. Lets cross our fingers and see what happens. I would love to draw people out of woodwork. Again, I am sorry for not being more talkative. I am here.

When I look for speakers. I look for something close. Something that can fly out of a major airport to Seattle. The goal is to be cost effective. I also look at speaker if he has a fee for presentation. A lot of speakers want $250 for 1-2 hour presentation. I like Mike Paletta. But his fee is $250 per presentation.

I am just a voice over here. I still want this club to be the best place for all to learn as one. I believe Randy Reed would like to see as many stores as possible. He is a business man. I recently was introduced to some of his reef nutrition foods. I liked what I saw in comparison to my friends fish and corals. He also has a food for babies for those that want to raise clownfish. I have watched people prosper using amino acids and feeding thier corals more and more. I hope you all enjoy his talk. Our gift to him would be to introduce him to as many reliable clients as possible. We all benefit if that happens.

The offer to bring product to raffle was a nice donation. The food has a shelf life.

I watched Tri-Cities club bring things to raffle over the year. I watched a garage sale bring in lots of money. I watched Tri-cities bring in over $3000 dollars this way in less than one year. That money is used to bring all clubs together once a year in Tri-Cities.

I still would like to see a chemistry talk. I believe that most people are not familliar with needs to raise corals. I should say Goals or Targets. How much Calcium is needed to sustain SPS. That is usually above 400 ppm. How Calcium and Alkalinity balance each other out. Goals for Alkalinity. Magnesium requirements to sustain your calcium and alkalinity so it does not swing rapidly. That(mag) is usually 3 times the amount of Calcium ppm. I would like to work on bringing in Chris Brightwell. He was lead chemist for Kent. He has his own company now. I have used his product. I highly recommend his powdered Calcium, Alk, Magnesium form for those that dose.

I would like to see someone bring in some water from their reef or go to someones house for a meeting. Do Testing with Salifert or ELos kits or both. Talk about Targets for successfully raising SPS, Softies, Snails, Crabs, Star fish, etc.
I have talked to Randy Holmes Farley in Past. I begged him to come to Seattle. RHF is very busy. I still would love to see him here. Again these are all ideas that we can share as a group and decide where we want to go. I love reading about this hobby and will make a effort to get a guest speaker for your desires when all have agreed upon it.

Ok, We could have another Guest speaker if everyone agrees upon it for possibly November. Repeat, could have. This is still up in the air. We would have to pay for round trip ticket from Salt Lake City, Utah. No hotel room. Person would like to fly out that night. We need to put our heads together and decide if We want this?

Adam Blundell Adam Blundell M.S. is a hobbyist, lecturer, author, teacher, and research biologist. Adam works for the University of Utah’s School of Medicine in Pathology and in Marine Biology. He currently helps run the Wasatch Marine Aquarium Society, of which he is a former president. Adam is also the director of the Aquatic & Terrestrial Research Team, a group which bridges the gap between hobbyists and scientists.

I will go with what majority says. Things to consider are that he just wants a plane ticket as of now. He may not be available later on. The weather sometimes plays a part in Travel.

You arranged this with Matt. Matt may be busy later on.

Well then, perfect. Three speakers, two frag swaps, the x-mas party, June picnic and possible the north end and south end tank tours. Were booked up for the year.

If we want to bring in Adam for november Im sure we could do the acrylic meeting in January. Although sitting in someones garage for very long that time of year might not be too comfortable. Im easy going about it too Ed. I guess that why need a president. To make the final desicion.
