Ed any word on our November speaker? Id sure like to know we have something definate before Emailing Matt and telling him were post poning the Acrylic thing until after the new year. If I start jerking him around with dates Im sure it will strip the fun right out of it for him.

My internet went down last night. I am at work. I will try to contact Adam again. I have already sent him a email previously right after I was told to go ahead.

I got a email from Steve S in Vancouver BC and then it went down.
Steve S is another Expert in Saltwater Hobby. I asked him years ago to be a speaker in Seattle. Steve is visiting Seattle area. I hope Kris received her email from him also.
He was asking for the best place to shop. I want to say all the sponsors. That way he has a good choice of variety. This is one of those times I wished I lived in Seattle again. We need to keep good communications with Stores and speakers to make this place enjoyable for all.

I did inquire as to his ability to travel around the area while he was visiting so that I could point him in the direction of some of our sponsors in the outlying areas since I believe none of our sponsors are truly within the city limits of Seattle.

You know If Steven walked into My store and Said PSAS recommended you. I know it would put a spark in me if I was LFS. It would show that we care about LFS. It may be a good building block to establish communication. It could be a good building block in relation with Guest speaker and LFS. I am hoping my Internet is working tonight. Kris if you want to let any LFS and Steven know it would be cool. Please let me know so I do not overstep you. Please let Steven know that we would still love to have him as guest speaker in Seattle if it ever pans out. I am will read emails at work until 2pm.

Ok, I just got off phone with Adam Blundell. Here is a short about him. He writes about 3 articles a month for FAMA, TFH, Advanced Aquarist, etc. He is a professor in Utah University. He has talked at IMAC, etc. He talks about twice a month for Clubs. When we talked he was doing a study on bacteria, reproduction of clams by injecting hormones, raising shrimp in captivity, etc. A hobbyist with a very positive outlook and a lot of charisma.

Adam has asked to post pone his visit to Next Spring, Possibly March.

Duane, I am asking you to follow through with Matt.

Marine Fish: Captive v. Free

I will present information and discuss with the Seattle group:
Differences between the home aquarium and the sea for marine fishes; and
Differences in the lives between the captive and free marine fishes.

I will speak mostly on captive fish behavior and include a little about captive fish diseases.

If you would, run this by your group to make sure this is suitable and let me know at your earliest opportunity.

I think this is the most important fact the BOD needs to keep foremost in mind. It is great events and relevent and respected speakers that will bring in new members. While the sponsor discount is a bonus in itself I am not sure that it is a selling point. Barrier Reef had told me about the discount for joining a couple of times but each time the discount I would get on that particular purchase did not exceed or meet the amount it would have cost me too join so I passed. I am not one to pay an annual fee to recieve a discount. But I was actually in Ontario the day I read about Lee speaking and I knew I had to go, so I inquired about membership found I could pay at the door. I flew in from Ontario that day but still made the hour plus drive to BCC for this event.

So now I will work on Adam Blundell for another slot.
