I have some red/orange mushrooms and purple mushrooms. The red/orange ones have dark maroon spots on them and the purple ones have dark purple/brownish spots. The dark red and green stripe don't have any. Is this normal for these guys?

Here is some photos: I guess there are some on the green one too.

I have the same on my mushrooms, and some on my leathers. i was told by Crazyfish that they were flat worms.
They hang out in low flow areas.
I have had them in my tank for well over 1 1/2 years. They dont seem to be over taking anything yet.
I was told you can pull that coral out of the tank, place it in another tank of same water a shoot them off with a turkey baster. Easy enough during a water change, just so you dont place the used baster water back in the tank.
Others will have more info.

Looks like Flat Worms to me. Flat Worm Exit time! They breed like crazy, and can even split themselves creating two. If left unattended can become quit the pest. Algae eaters. in larger numbers they can/do choke out corals. There are some fish known to eat them. 6 line Wrasse, Yellow Coris Wrasse just off the top.

I have a McCoskers Wrasse and he probably would not like another wrasse in his tank. He's the boss fish. I got some Flat Worm Exit, and I will treat tomorrow. Just tried sucking out as many as I could with a turkey baster.

You should be able to put another wrasse with a McCoskers. Just be sure its not a fairy wrasse, the flashers and fairys don't really mix too well from what I have read and been told. A Yellow coris would be a ideal choice to eat your pests if you wanted to use a natureal fix :)

Ive heard that a christmas wrasse will eat them too. Not sure though. When i saw my first few flatworms, i went out and got some of that flatworm exit and i havent had a problem since.

I got some Flatworm Exit, but I got a uneasy feeling about putting chemicals in the tank. I called around and found a Yellow Coris Wrasse at Barrier Reef and with my coupon from Bob Moore Frag Swap, I got him for 40% off. SCORE!!! I hope he is worth it and does a job on those flatworms. If not, I got a new fish and I will have to use the juice.

Well I put in the Yellow Coris Wrasse and I was concerned that he wouldn't get along with my McCoskers Wrasse. I was worried for nothing. They get along fine, or at least as well as any other fish can get along with my McCoskers. They all make him mad every once in awhile, especially the bar gobies. Thanks everyone, he is a handsome addition. The Yellow Wrasse hid for about 2 hours this morning and then came out, and stayed out all day, picking at rocks and he even ate a flatworm. He had a little red circle on his lips and then he slurped it right in. Looked just like the ones we were turkey baster-ing off the mushrooms, but it looked as if the wrasse pulled it off the rocks. So cool.

It is so nice when you can use a fish to take care of a problem pest.
Plus a yellow coris wrasse is a cool fish.
