Cool build, the shelf is just awesome. Is the overflow deep enough to run your heater in it?

I'm satisfied. I wanted to hang the light via wire but I think by the cord looks much better.

There isn't a lot of weight on it so I don't think it will stress the Kessil.

Here is what it looks like. Ready for rock, sand and water. :)

Small update

Got my BRS pukani dry rock today.
I ordered 15lbs and I'll prob end up using 8. :)
One piece is huge and I'll end up breaking it up with some nice branches.

My 10lbs of uncured premium aquatics should be in tomorrow.
Then I can really get down and dirty with scaping.

Below are just some ideas I was playing with.
I will have a lot of extra rock (less is more), probably a good reason to buy another tank..... kidding. kinda.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks for looking.

It is coming along really well! Nice work. I wish i had those wood working skills!

Just take into consideration your viewing angle when you work on your hardscape. Can't wait to see which hardscape you decide on.

I really like how the base turned out. Keep posting pictures.
Thanks. I'm pretty stoked about it as well. I'll keep posting pics till the wheels fall off.

good point. Looks like my live rock won't be here until tomorrow but I just got my RKE so I'll have time to set that up tonight and get it ready for everything this weekend.

Thanks for looking guys.

Here is a 2 min video of the BRS Pukani dry rock I purchased, this is 15lbs.

Update and small photo dump.

Got the RKE, getting that updated and setup.

Got an idea to cover the RKE screen so it doesn't distract but that will come later. :)

Got my new baby. My first drill, a craftsman, crapped out on me last week. It was this or the Milwaukee Red.

Taped the panel to minimize splitting. Seemed to do the job.

Now I get to hammer that big piece of Pukani. This was fun. I got to find the natural lines of the rock and kind of see what it would produce before breaking it.

Here is the show stopper shelf piece. Such a great piece.

I started scaping with just that single rock I hand broken up. Shelf might happen.

Here is the inside so far of the cabinet. Trying to keep it as clean as possible.

And the view from the outside. The RKE surround will be cleaner when I'm finished.

Live rock tomorrow then I lock myself inside until she's up and running.

Thanks all for the comments. Love the feedback.

Alright. I stayed up late, had a tall boy and knocked it out.

Everything is looking alright.

Very nice detail.
Cool looking build.
I love it when you get to buy new tools to help with the build.

Love the clean mounting on the controller. Are you considering running the cords under the mantle? My install is no where near that clean, so I can't really say much... but it was kind of weird how quick I noticed the wire.. (more than likley though, that is just because they are in focus)

I'm going to get a wire run that will hide the cables and run along the top of the mantle.
Wiring is not even close to being done. :)

Being in IT makes me kind of OCD about cables.

With you there. Mine kind of looks like that server rack your afraid to touch, let alone unplug or move anything.. but I have been able to for the most part keep it out of site, which keeps the OCD at bay. I actually have a box built for it now, just have to get to switching it over.
