Ive been using the same oceanic blue jug or 5g bucket since i started! Its decent price but i think theres better out their. Thoughts?
Anyone ever switch salts? Nervious of doing it myself.

I like aquavitro...just looking for better quality i guess. Kinda like u get wat u pay for....just like everything else in this hobby.
Ive also heard good things about brightwell...locally and forum wise.
I do w/c's but not as much as i should. Also i run my salt on both tanks 1.025 (dont know if that helps at all lol).

thxs and comments, tips, IMOE, and such are welcome as always~

i use coral pro salt and also noticed nata uses it as well and is brs reccomended. ive tested new mixed salt and is verry close to the stated levels.which is 450 cal 1340 mg 12.2 dkh. also mixes clear in bout an hr. but i do wait 24 hrs before use.

I was using Instand Ocean when i first started and been using IO reefcrystals for years now just because i can get a 200g box for 53$ shipped online and havent had problems with it.

Instant ocean for three water changes and the 4th I use aquavitro.

IMO and IME Most Salt mixes are close enough in the ingredients and elements that you are splitting hairs. I have changed form one brand to another and back again with no noticeable effects, except in my wallet!!

I used to use Instant Ocean and switched to SeaChem Reef and love it. The softies and LPS seem to love it also - it dissolves fast and after testing between water changes it needs less supplementing than it used to with IO. I got a prime membership through Amazon so shipping is always free.

Seachem. Reef Salt

More along the lines of the vitro requires dosing where as reef crystals don't. I do water changes once a week or try to so I don't dose. When I had the 75g we did 40 gallon changes every week. Now we are in a 180 and we still do 40 every weekish. I can tell a difference just in the making of the saltwater, the vitro hisses at me when I add it to water, reef crystals doesn't. Higher magn is my suspicion.

I have always used Kent Reef Salt. It mixes compleatly, no particles and has a good mix of trace elements. Plus it is cheap compaired to some of the others and easy to find (at least down here).

hmmm k thats a lot of IO's
i dont like the idea of reef crystals cuz its all shards and such, i want a fine salt. Maybe im wierd lol.
I agree that it comes down to the cost, i should look more into this. Id buy em all and try em all if i could afford it lol.
I think most are very similar yes... however one might work better for me and i dont know it or never could know without a lil playing.
Thxs for the feedback everyone!

i do run a heater and ph in the water after mixing for 24hrs -ish...

What is your current salt, not doing?
Why do you want a change?

If there is nothing wrong with your tank and you just want to change salt, just for the sake of making a change, remember, consistency is good.
Don't fix, what ain't broke.

good point! Nothing really i guess... i could use a couple w/c's though. Someone whip me into shape!

I guess i feel like a change might help my corals, however i think more constant parameters and some w/c's would do em just as good... and cost me less.
my alk tends to run low.

I dunno about others but my reef crystals is very fine salt.. Just higher supplement levels than regular IO

so is it IO that comes in the bigger chunks or shards?!?! I though it was reef crystals...u know like big salt crystals.
