Tank Move - DONE!!! (Now With Pics)

First of all, a debt of gratitude and thanks that can not truly be expressed is owed to (in order of appearance this morning :D) Mojoreef, Reedman, MtnDewMan, Gordo, Grouperdog, Fly n Reef and Fragman. There is no way I would have ever been able to pull this off if it wasn't for the help of you all. Thank you!!!!!

Well, the tank is now in the living room. The new sump is installed. The new plumbing is in place. The sandbed's gone. The wiring's redone. All inhabitants seem to have weathered the move well.

I'm pooped. I'll post some pictures on Monday of the whole process (mysteriously, the one of mojo using the shop vac to rid my tank of the sandbed disappeared from the flash memory of my camera  ).

I'm sure you're breathing a big sigh of relief, Paul. I'm glad you had alot of help. :) Looking forward to seeing the pics.

I wish I could have been there though!

Congrats, Paul! Sorry I couldn't be there to direct everyone around, but I'm sure Mike did a good job of that for you.

Nice job boys!

It's always nice to be done with such a large task! Now rest and enjoy. Good job boys!!

I was there, it all went like clockwork except the unexpected decision to buff the tank before repopulating. Granted it was well worth the effort of Fragman, Mojo and Gordo for the elbow grease. It was also a great prelude to the next meeting. It was looking great when I left nice job everyone. I learned alot by watching the entire process. Hope all your inhabitants weather the storm.

By the way Salsaboy....I mean King. I helped too. Even though I am a giiiirrrrllll. YUCK girl germs :)!!!!! Just joshing ya. I had a great time with the guys yucking it up and all.
:)

Thanks guys and gals. I feel really lucky to have had so much help.

I am just waking up and taking a look at the tank this morning. All fish are accounted for, and all corals are looking good. I've got the top off system back online now, and now I get to mop the house :D. FnR, I knew I was tired, I can't believe I forgot to mention the tank buffing. That was the ultimate in great ideas. I'm glad you all talked me into it. It's like having a new aquarium. Also, the tank grew in height by 4" by way of sandbed removal, so now I've got 20% more real estate to play with. I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Nice to have Tank friends

Nice to have tank friends. Glad everything went well. Look forward to seeing it.

Salsaking!

1. Take everything out
2. Move the tank
3. Put everything back in

I thought Mike was like a Superhero....he's there, but he's not..... I'd love to see Mike in a cape! :D

Here are the pics

OK, my tank is a 100 gallon acrylic. Here's a before shot...

.

The first step was to make ~85 gallons of salt water, which was in tubs in the living room. Here's a shot of my tank the night before the move with the canopy removed...

Here's my old stripped down sump with the skimmer and calcium reactor removed.

And the new sump that's set to be installed...

The first major step was to drain the water into tubs (preserving as much as possible)...

Here's the living room full of tubs of new salt water, coral and helpers...

And one of the 3 holding tanks...

Despite fierce competition, Chuck nabbed this beauty for himself

Gordo, Fragman and mojoreef did a fantastic job buffing the inside of my tank. It's like new again...

Paul, it looks great. So now you have a nice closed loop system (or did you have one before?), and no sand :D:D:D

That looked like it went so easy, cool. I'll have to remember that when I move at the end of this month.
