Ok so Im board and this forum is slow. So post your tank shooting tips. Here is a couple.

Use a Circular polarizing filter especially on thick glass or acrylic.

Set your white balance under water for true colors. Here is how I do it. I dont bother setting the WB in the camera I find it a waste of time. I drop a plastic grey card under water and snap a meaningless photo. I use the dropper in any post application to collect the WB from the pic of the card, this way your WB will always be correct. If your feeling ambitious you can shoot the card full frame and use it as a good all around WB custom setting just for tanks. I know this works for canon and leica not sure about nikons or others.

Manual focus, its a pain to auto focus on a swaying coral when using a thin depth of field especially with wide apertures like 1.4 - 2.8.

Use a depth of field calculator to get your depth of field. For example if you only want to focus on a single snail and blur out everything else set you aperture to something low to get around a one inch DOF.

Thats all I have for now, post yours!

Tank shooting tips? Grip your preferred weapon with both hands, allowing the sights to blur while keeping the target in focus. Take a moderately deep breath and exhale slowly allowing your heart rate to settle. When you've released about half the breath, carefully squeeze the trigger. The actual shot should come as a surprise. Do this and you'll hit what you're aiming at every time.

Next question.

Why not use a tripod with a remote or timer, other than shooting a top down that is?
