hey you should try putting some turbo snails in there and my favorite a lawnmower blennie, and also what are your levels at right now for chemicals? and a sea hare also works for them and there cool looking. or some emerald crabs

Wow that is yukky. What slim said. snails, and a lawnmower or 5. Maybe less light for a while too???
i will try that what funny is that it hasnt seem to spread any the rock that have none on them look great, iam thinking it could be water flow, where the flow is hitting the rocks, no problem, but what do i know:)

o yeah do you have any windows near by because the suns light will also promote the alge growth. yeah i got one lawnmower blennie in my tank and he cleared mine all up and is happy :p

haha well i run two canister filters on my and my alge cleared up but im in the process of getting all the equipment and stuff to build a sump/refugium and a new closed loop system. but just get some turbo snails and regular snails they do wonders fast too.

cool thanks, iam running two cl setups now, one blows water across the bottom, under the egg crate, to the front of the glass, and the other blows from side to side with a squid, to the center of the tank

yeah i just have a couple power heads inside to try and stir it up more. but im going to be using a squid and creating my own closed loop and then hooking a sump without even driling into my tank :)

What are your water paramters like Bill??? The algae will need a food source to grow so something is fueling it and I guess the conditions on those particlar spots in your tank are just right like you mentioned. Are you keeping up with your water changes??? A nice small tang (if your tank will support one like a yellow tang) would probably eat that up in an instant (mine did) and keep it groomed for you which will "mask" the problem, but you wouldn't be getting to the root of the problem. I don't know...I know you've had some sort of algae problem for a long time now (from one thing to another) even after all of your changes. Probably if I were in your position, I'd get a fish that would make quick work of the algae in my tank till I could figure out what's going on. Atleast the tank will be more appealing in the meantime. Just thinking out loud...:)

hey krish, i have had a problem of sorts for awhile, i do 15gal changes every other week. i do have a yellow tang i have had for 4 or 5 months he is full all of the time, by looking at him, i still only feed them with formula two, every three days, and just tiny pices that thaey will eat,in a few mins...iam thinking, water flow, old lights, they are over a year or so, or skimmer not big enough....who knows.

oo those old lights will do it too your supposed to change them out once a year or is it 9 months i forget

You might want to up the water changes to atleast every week IMO. Every other week is kind of a long time. Waste doesn't take long at all to pose a problem in a tank and leaving it there for 2 weeks can cause a lot of build up. I'd atleast do a 10 gal water change every week rather than 15 gal every other. Just a thought :)

i had the same problem . i cut my light time down and bought alot of crabs.

I had the same problem, I bought a lawn mower bleeny and he ate himself to death. I have since bought more crabs, a bristle tooth tang who works his fins off, new lights and a fox face. The fox face and tang really tear that algae up. They got it all I now have to feed algae to them. Good luck.

and yes old lights will do it its something about they dont produce the right light i switched mine out and it helped out alot.

There is really no way around it. With globs that dense, besides the water changes, you'll need to pull the rocks out one at a time and scrub them clean as best you can. Once you have the algae population down quite a bit, the tang and cleaner crew will have a chance to finish it off.

"It's the only way to be sure."
