Update, finally! Got the stand built, painted, and stained!
Not bad for a first stand eh? Though I must admit, most of it was my grandpa. If only I could build a stand out of Legos... Anyway, sorry to Eric(Eww) for stealing the color choices from him. Originally the whole thing was going to be stained except the corner trim pieces that were black. But, when I started staining the plywood, I decided I really didn't like the way that stain looked on it.(Turned it kind of a funky yellow-ish color). Worked great on the doors though so I decided just to douse the rest in black. Probably can't tell from the picture but the handles are bullet cartridges from my grandpa's favorite hunting rifle. Even though I'm not really into guns, I kind of view them as his signature on the stand so I like them.
So, my next project will be the sump. I have a thread with a first draft on the plans here:http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/f14/first-sump-design-63388/
Got it of off craigslist, definitely in need of a cleaning. It will need about 8" inches cut off the length in order to fit inside the stand
Can anybody explain to me why there is a hole in the bottom of it? The only thing I can think of is it lead to a drain in case the sump overflowed?!?
So that's it for tonight. Have to do some more research on the sump, especially on how to cut it and stuff.
